Its a high speed retard if I remember rite. My 70 hard top had one, my convert does not. But the convert has electronic on it when I got it. torredcuda 10-01-2008, 04:02 PM Someone on Moparts also said the FSM says it`s correct but every one I can`t seem to find any cars with them still intact on them.Is it common to replace them with a non-solenoid type? OHD 10-01-2008, 05:29 PM might try here http://www.autohobbydigest.com/numbers.php torredcuda 10-03-2008, 07:16 AM Still trying to figure this out, someone sais it was part of the CAS emiisions package. :help: Histoy 11-22-2008, 02:48 PM There's one for a '71 383 on eBay right now. Item #260319795480 Meep-Meep 11-24-2008, 03:07 PM I remember seeing that setup installed on cars that I used to come across back in the 80's. Yes, 1970-1971; emissions related and probably CA; used in conjunction with the carb idle stop screw. It retards the timing at idle. The idle stop screw in the carb was insulated in a plastic bushing and had a wire coming off the screw head, so when the throttle lever touches the stop screw it makes contact thus completing the ground and powers up the solenoid. I don't recall seeing this used with the AVS but definitely on the Holley 4 BBL. I'm sure the 2 BBL had it also. | |||
