I Don't Think These Strut Rods Should Be Bent Like This...

Or;here I go chasing obsolete and unobtainable parts-again...

So-o-o...work progresses on the disassembling of the front end. Torsion bars came out fairly easy, and I handled them with care. Still am fighting to get the spindle/knuckle off the upper ball joint on both sides-lotsa PB Blaster there-and am keeping the removal tool on over night hoping that they'll pop off. The strut rods were not easy, but after I got them out I noticed the bends. Uh;they're supposed to be straight, aren't they? I'm screwed, aren't I? Go ahead, tell me;I can take it.

At least stuff is coming off fairly easily;not a lot of rust on nuts and bolts,so that helps to keep the frustration level down.

Here's the strut rods;opinions,please.

Did you take those off my car? I think they get bent when the LCA bushing wears out and we get movement. Mine seriously looked that way also.

Nope. They should be straight as an arrow

Alk, let me look for my oem stuff, if I still got them, you can have them. Got to find them first, and make sure they are straight, wouldn't want to send ya some P.O.S..

You're a good man,Zach! Thanks;please let me know what you need for shipping and such. I'm going to check the aftermarket as well;not sure if I've ever seen these for sale. Got new bushings,so I can't use these things with some new stuff,eh?

I've got a pair of the "heavy duty" type that Mancini sells, if you want to go that route let me know.

Al, I found those bad boys, but they are bent at the lower control arm end. I wouldn't feel right giving you a pile of crap to replace a pile of crap. And I don't think they are safe as one of them looks cracked by the shoulder.

What are those from? I have a 63 440, a 64 440, a 68 Dart, a 69 Dart and others that all should have straight front suspension parts. I am parting them all out and will give you a sweet deal if I have the parts you need.

Blessings,
Shakota

I got the HD ones from Mancini. They also have adjustable ones.

5.7 Hemi;thanks for looking and the consideration.

Crunchy;Mancini's is out of those. I'll check back on those.

Eagleone1983,if they're for a '64 B-body,I'm interested.

Shakota;if you've got a straight pair,and if I don't work out something with Eagleone,I'm interested.

Did I cover it all? I hope...

Still have one knuckle to remove(it's being a PITA),then the control arms, and then I get to be creative in removing the LCA bushings. I believe there's a thread on that subject...

Thanks,as always,folks!
