I recently purchased a 3.23 SureGrip to replace the 2.93 peg leg in my '65 Coronet. In a "rookie" move, I assumed since both housings were 2070741 housings, the yokes would be the same. In fact, the u-joint straps appear to interchange. Now that the PIG is in my housing, I realize the distance across one yoke is 3 1/4" while the other is 4". Solutions....

1) Can I swap the yokes, i.e. will they interchange? If I did, will I have to set pre-load and back lash again?

2) Is there a "swap" u-joint I could use?

3) Will I have to get a new yoke on the drive shaft to match the housing?

I have unscrewed myself from the ceiling, accepted my fate, and I'm ready to listen. Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Last week I replaced some bushings in the front end of the Charger and had it aligned. The setup for the steering is:
Rubber bushings in LCA, Moog offset UCA bushings. Poly strut rod bushings. Newer ball joints. Firm Feel Stage 3 steering box with Fast Ratio pitman and idler arms. Steering ratio is between 11.8 and 12.0 to 1 with the fast ratio arms. Welded K member with gussets to steering box mount.
The P/s pump is a rebuilt unit. I have an inline cooler on it. The steering effort is heavy. Yeah, Most Mopars suffer from the OVERboosted OEM setup, but mine feels just the opposite. It never jumps, surges or squeals the belt though. I'm sure that the pump is working because steering effort with the engine off if waaaaay higher.
The pump has a 5 7/8" or 6" pulley and it is bent. I planned on installing another of similar size, but just found a 5" pulley on another pump. The pulley is 15% smaller and would be spinning that much faster. I am curious if this would make any difference. Do these saginaw pumps reach a point where the boost tops out and increases in RPM make no difference? In other words, if the current pulley spins at 2000 RPMs and the smaller pulley spins 2300 at the same engine speed, does this equal more boost?

FOR SALE: Here are pics and info on 4 different Federal power steering pumps for Big block or Small block.
#1 is date coded 249th day of 66, and it has an incorrect 6 1/4 inch pullet with a key slot that someone installed previously. It does have typical dents on the reservoir behind where the bracket would go from tightening the belt. Price would be $75 plus shipping.
#2 is date coded 251st day of 67. There is no pulley, but it has a nice reservoir with no dents, only one small ding near the return hole nipple. Price would be $75 plus shipping.
#3 has a date code of 299th day of 67. There is no cap, and it has an incorrect 5 3/4 inch diameter pulley that someone installed previously, and put a tack weld on the front corner of the shaft. They did not weld in the threaded hole, and the weld could be ground off and the pulley removed. The reservoir is dirty on the outside, but not dented badly, only one area with a vary small dent on the back where the bracket bolts on. Price would be $65 plus shipping.
#4 is date coded 262nd day of 68, and has the correct 7 inch pulley. The pulley had a dent on the belt groove, and was bent back. We straightened it up mostly, and it actually turned out pretty good. Would need more work to be nice. The reservoir does have dents at the typical area behind the bracket, and an indent where the return hose nipple is. These dents could be worked out if the reservoir is removed. Price would be $85 plus shipping.

I have been building cars for over 20 years. I have also been parting out cars that long. Just in the past 10years though I have been doing nothing but Mopar. Well for the past couple of years, with the economy sucking, no one is buying parts. I've even had parts that I have tried to give away with no luck. So after spending this past weekend at a Mopar swap meet and car show, I have decided to get out. I have a bunch of belvedere/satellite parts, some 73-74 charger parts , and also some 70-76 a-body duster /dart parts in my possession. With that being said, I am scrapping all the parts, unless someone comes forward. I have 67 belvedere/satellite hood (rust free), doors(needs 2 patches), and trunk lid(rust on lip only). 73-76 duster/dart doors (practically rust free). I have 3 radiators laying around. I also have various trim pieces for the dart and belvedere. This is just a touch of what I have. I can't write it all here. Maybe someday, when things turn around, I will have the patience to deal with this again. Thanks to all that have bought parts from me in the past.

I have a BBody Styling question that has bugged me for years . . . The only Design flaw on any BadAss 1968 through 1970 (Hardtop non-post) BBody is when all 4 windows are down you still have that hella ugly dated vent glass on your door / A pillar. If Man can land on the Moon cannot any Glass fabricator come up with new door glass that meets the A pillar so as to eliminate the funky vent window?!!! I don't care if you spend $200K on a RestMod Charger at SEMA; ALL I SEE is flat black paint trying to mask out the most glaring design flaw on the BEST PROFILE of any American car E V E R !
I would help fund the Auto Glass company that can solve this once and for all! BBody Forum; what do you say? Wouldn't your GTX Charger RR be that much cooler with a super clean NO side GLASS profile ?!
