Ok so it begins, I will try to update pics as much as possible. So i was looking to build another tube chassis car and have been looking for a good (starter) but unable to find a car I wanted to cut up I started looking for ones that were already cut up. My wife runs across this 69 coronet tube chassis and i figure why not take a look at it.Well i am a sucker for all the b body cars so I get to the mans house and its in pretty bad shape to say the least the cage is terrible and so on and so on,But I can see the potential and I have a 15 year old son who just started his high school auto body classes. He has 4 years of it so why not let him help me after school with another race car build and best of all someone has already cut this one up so i dont have to worry about cutting up a good rebuildable mopar. The goal is mid 5 seconds in the eighth mile and to able to hit the mopar races and shows. This is what I am starting with P1010018.JPGP1010017.JPG

OK here are some more I am removing the vinyl top and shaving the drip rails and key locks. I am stripping it down to bare metal getting it ready to do the epoxy primer so it can sit while i remove the old rollcag and frame and build a new oneDSC_0096.jpgDSC_0113.jpgDSC_0111.jpgDSC_0105.jpg

Great shape! and Welcome aboard the forum!!

I remember when I used to be able to use the child labor, they all grew up. Enjoy the time with your son while you can. He will grow up quick. Great start for a track car.

Welcome aboard!!
Good Looking project..........and yes I am extremely biased. What are the plans for a power plant, tires and wheel combo, paint? There are now three of us members doing the same project to the same car. This is my project.

SF i have looked at your post awesome car i will be following along with your project. I haven't played around with engine yet but will definitely have a glide (consistency reasons) more than likely a dana 60, tires i haven't decided on 15 or 16 inch rim but almost definitley 33 by 17 slick in rear and probably 27 inch in front.I am leaning heavily towards a single black and polished single bead lock wheel from billet specialties. Now as for color I am considering this cool new color i found called Bourbon Brown Pearl, If I can find a pic of it on a car i'll post it. I was thinking of maybe a sour apple green metallic but ??? maybe not I plan on having this car low and mean with a pro mod stance and not sure about that loud of a color any thoughts ?

My personal preference for the big B-bodies is not to have them slammed, just not a fan of them dropped that far. My front end is down 2.5" from stock and sporting a
26" tire. I am looking forward to seeing the build progress.

this is what i had in mind for mine i like the stance tube chassis charger.jpg

Very nice project ! I use to buld them for customers some time back but haven't had one in the shop for some time. I am doing someting close to this on my 69 runner but the floors and so on are in such good to replace already shape I am not going Full tube. I am looking for the stock inside look with the old school prostreet outside deal.
Last car had a roll bar and cage but I want a back seat in this one and no roll bar. ( for now anyway ! )
kEEP US POSTED

Those are a little to low for me. On mine I also kept the back tires further out as I don't like the look of the tires when they are set to far in like the yellow 70.

This should be a cool build to watch, love the car.

Sf i totally agree with the rear tires being sucked in I don't like that either, now i haven't mocked up the tires etc under the car but if i have to I will add wheel arches for the tires to keep them out close to the quarters but I DON't want to have to do that.

Those look like some mean machines there, Im not one for low sitting cars but racers and the like do look good! Sounds like an exciting build! hope it works out the way you want it.. A 69 like that is a great body style.

This is going to be a fun build to watch and welcome to the board.
