Best coolant recovery tank to use

I haven't been on in awhile but wanted to ask, what is the best coolant recovery tank you use? I have a 68' Charger R/T that puks half the time. I put a new cap on it and did some of the other stuff but..... so I was thinking of putting one on. Any suggestion? I have a stock engine bay so a shiny new polished or chrome one will stick out like a sore thumb.

I run a cheap one like this one from Summit & have been pretty happy with it, but my motor doesn't puke too much anymore. I mounted mine underneath the washer reservoir.

For a more "stock look", they do sell 2 sizes, right out on the shelf if you look, at O'Reilly. The larger one should work for you too. They're semi-clear white plastic if I remember right.

2" at the neck in the meantime. Do not top up. Should not puke when it finds the happy level.
Unless drag racing, no tank needed.

No drag racing with this car. That's what my other car is for.

So, you're saying that your car is running HOT and OVERHEATING? How hot is the engine running? Do you have an aftermarket temperature gage on it? Does it "puke" after driving on the highway & coming to a stop? If not, when does it "puke"? What rear end gears are you running? Do you have overdrive? What radiator do you have? Are you running a fan shroud?

agree with the 2" rule but I'm using a $5 walmart travel cup.

It's frosted translucent clear with a dark gray gasketed screw in lid, has a click closed flip lid to fill, and is graduated.

Kind of looks like it belongs there.

Verified to work.

In fact, the factory overflow tank in my Dakota, integrated with the fan shroud, cracked. They are $125 and up to replace, so I put the $5 walmart cup in there too, and it works in the cross-flow system as well.

If you don't have the $5, there is always Alhambra.

Dennis....is your car an export?

Yes, in addition to the 1 of 1 recovery tanks.

No it doesn't over heat at all. According to the temp gauge (stock) it runs around 170 - 180 normally. It's just after I drive it around and stop it overflows. It is a numbers matching car so everything is stock on it. It will push out enough that the level in the radiator is down at least 1 1/2 - 2 inches. Then it will go lower. I never fill up to the top.

Leave it at the level it seeks. As long as the coolant is covering the tubes when cold, you have plenty of coolant in it AND enough expansion space.

I'll have to check that again. I think might have been my issue as I think I saw the level would get below the tubes. Thanks for the info. Before I get an overflow tank I will double check things.
