I am in the process of rebuilding my stock 6319SA thermoquad. The caps under the main jets were leaking fuel, so I removed them and have them cleaned up ready to re-install on the thermoplastic fuel bowl.

The question is what adhesive works best for this application?

OK, I have not rebuilt a Carter carburetor in 30 yrs., but if you need to glue metal to plastic & it comes in contact with fuel, then you'll need and epoxy specifically designed for plastic. They sell these at auto part stores, they usually set up in 5 min. (fast cure) & smell like rotten eggs. Those epoxies stick just fine to metal too & will not be affected by gasoline/ethanol.

If you need a complete new one, these folks have reproduction TQ bodies. There's several different types. Click on the carb part catalog, then you'll see the TQ bowls near the bottom of the list.

Which JB Weld product do you recommend? I used a JB Weld last year on the bottom side (outside) of the seam on the caps as an outer layer, and by end of the summer the leak had propagated past this layer of epoxy. Can't remember which of the many choices at the local auto parts store it was. This year I pulled the caps out of the fuel bowl and cleaned off all the old factory adhesive to do it right...

Anyone have experience with Loctite E-120HP? The TDS for this product shows that its pretty impervious to gasoline and other solvents.

Thanks all...

I have used JB Quick Weld on a few center sections. So far, they have not come apart.
