I do them all the time, I make my own front fitting or I run the line out back or run 3 separate lines like 68 HEMI GTX. I use a stock 440 6 pack air cleaner but you have to put a dent in it for the front fitting to clear. I know I have a picture of a air cleaner but cant find it at the moment.
Pinging is caused by high combustion chamber temperature, more fuel will cool it down. My friends car had a vacuum leak at the intake to head gasket, it had a edelbrock intake and who ever put it together only used the valley pan to seal. It did the same thing got hot at high speed around town...
Check your rad cap, if it has good pressure the hose should not collapse, then as said timing, lean fuel, ad a auxiliary trans cooler. Fan clutch shouldn't make any difference at speed.
Cool car but at that price the thing should have all SS under the hood not cobbled up looking hoses, flexable rad hose for waste gate what else did he skimp on!
The Holley street dominator is the best low manifold I have found.
I put one on my buddy's 500 RB and it screams with a 850 Holley
I had a 1" spacer on it but he had to take it out to get the hood shut.
Nice looking ride, back in the 70's my buddy bought a 69 coronet R/T and it had a 68 hood, never thought I would see another one. I like the hood It looks better than the 69's I think.
