I took the air cleaner off, then the loop and bolt that holds the air cleaner. Put some rags in the air cleaner and then put a nice 4X8 sheet of plywood across the engine compartment. Using blankets on the fenders to keep from scratching stuff. That way I could lay in there and get my head up...
Took upper and lower dash pieces off and found that 2 of the 4 clips on the top piece of the upper dash are broken. Anybody know a part number or know where I can find a couple of these?
I GOT IT! ! ! ! ! !
When I rebuilt the carburetor, I adjusted everything to the specs that were listed in the rebuild kit. Tonight I went back in and adjusted the float to allow a little more fuel. Problem gone.
Have rebuilt the carb, replaced fuel filter and fuel pump.
Car starts and idles perfectly. While the choke is still closed off; engine accelerates well.
Once engine warms and the choke is wide open. . .. car hesitates on acceleration from idle and often dies. If I manually close the choke...
Currently rebuilding the carb. It is very cold here so the progress has been slow. (No heat in my garage and car is sitting outside.) Found lots of sludge in the bowls and on the floats. Also found a thin fiber in one of the venturis and some of the screws were only finger tight. I found a...
That is absolutely awesome. Thank you for you many years of Service. You deserve the fanfare; sorry the new generation is too "me" focused to show the respect you have earned.
I am sure you have already thought of this . . ... how about the fuse? On my Doba, the previous owner removed the fuse because the "Chronometer" was on the same fuse and it was running down the battery while the car sat.
Car has 34000 original miles.
Starts and idles very well, very smoothly. Drives well for a little while .... then it starts to act like the timing is off. It loses acceleration, spits and sputters, and eventually quits running. Once the condition starts it is very difficult to keep it...
Figured it out. Long straight arm did indeed go from right to left. On the Driver side, it attaches to the post on the side closest to the firewall.
Removing the spindles and the arm attached to the back of the wiper motor was the ticket. Assembled everything on the bench then put them back...
My wipers don't work on a 75 Cordoba I recently purchased. A little research . . ... and the wiper motor is not hooked up to the wiper pivot assemblies. I have found 2 bars that I believe are the missing pieces. Bought some bushings from ebay ...... but not sure which way this goes together...
Just went to CarQuest. They recommended 3M Windo-Weld. Looks like pretty much the same stuff that was in there originally. It may be a bit wider; but looks like a good sub. Price wasn't bad but had to buy 15 feet of the stuff!
Does the 3M stuff stay soft and pliable? I was looking at that stuff at the auto parts store but it did not say anything about how hard it was after drying.
Anybody know a good material to use to replace that gray putty adhesive used to hold on these tail light lenses? Or maybe even where to find this weird putty adhesive stuff?
