I'm almost ready drop a 440 into my 63 Sport Fury. One thing I didn't care for before when it had the 383 was the lack of road feel with the steering. I'm wondering what would happen if I changed the Federal power steering pump to a Saginaw pump. Would I notice any difference in steering feel? Thanks for any advice or comments. Doug

I have run both on the same car and engine, didn't notice any difference. Upgrade the steering box if you want improved feel.

I am changing the steering box while the old engine is out, and my thoughts were running along the lines of 62 Dart Convertible's post above. Lowering the pump pressure should increase the effort to turn the steering wheel and get more 'road feel'. But the difference in quoted pressures between Federal and Saginaw pumps is meager. 62 Dart Convertible's link to the article about how to significantly lower the pressure sounds like just the trick.
