Performance Single Exhaust for a 318

Jim you do awesome work and I appreciate the direction you are going with your car but please god man put some nice duals on it. My little 318 in my 67 charger sounded damn good with flowbastards and dual pipes.

I just can't stand the sound of the single exhaust on any v8

Yea but as I am researching it is better to keep the smaller pipes on the 318. I want this car to feel strong in normal driving. Headers and big dual exhaust will likely kill low end performance of this small engine. I have sent them an email to see if they have something that has audio of how it sounds.

Or let me ask this, do you know of someone who make 2 1/4" dual exhaust that connects to the stock manifolds?

EDIT:

If I looked they make a 2 1/4" dual system for the B Body as well.

That was just the Accurate Exhaust kits. Sent them a message looking for the dual exhaust and see if I can get an H pipe for the dual exhaust too.

A performance single exhaust is simple and cheaper. Custom-build, is the way to go. A smooth-flowing 2 1/2" down pipes into a 3" "Y"....back to a Race-Bullet resonator, then a good straight-thru like a magna-flow muffler. Quiet, flows well, and is a "single".

I have 2.25 pipes into 2 chamber flowmasters in my old 67 charger. It had stock manifolds. Thing burned rubber with a 2 barrel. Just a strong stock 318. I don't feel it gave up any low end I'll post a sound video

Sound clip:

I am really starting to love the body lines of the '66 and '67 Dodge B-Bodies...... I would actually like mine a bit quieter, I am getting old and turning into one of those "young whippersnapper" type complainers :)

It does sound deep and growly though!

You can put dynomax or 3 chamber or resonators etc to each their own. Either way man I admire your work and dedication to your car.

Here is a single on a Chevy... You don't get that lumpy-lump by have 2 sound sources at different distances to you. I bet if you stand right in the middle of the dual it would sound similar to this. Just a gut feeling....

Has that more raspy high RPM sound (ok some of it may be different mufflers too) of modern cars I guess.

I'll third 2 1/4 duals on a stock 318.

Sounds good and makes more power.

Does not harm low end.

I have dynomax knock-offs on the Satellite.

Not sure who makes them, but I've had several people tell me it sounds good, and even a few who've asked if it has a cam.

It's all bone stock, except that exhaust.

The factory said duals were worth 20 HP on 73 Road Runner 318 cars- 150 net vs 170.
