'69 road runner......like I needed another!

And just in, the last piece of the required parts to pass an inspection. I ordered the reveal clip set from Tom at RT Specialties. Spoke with him on the phone, excellent guy and service. I would recommend him to anyone.
Now I just have to install all these parts and then call the glass guy to come over and seal it up!

I installed the windshield clips and took the interior back out to install the headliner. I noticed the bow across the roof was hanging low. At first I thought it was due to someone caving the roof at one time. But upon closer inspection it was welded in wrong from the assembly line! This car would have had a crappy looking headliner from day one. The bar was hanging about an inch low so it really would have stood out. Now The bow right next to it was missing so maybe they compensated for it by not running it at all? Anyway, I drilled it out on the low side and pushed it up where it should be. It is hard to see in the pics, but it is perfect now!

I sanded the interior of the roof with 80 grit to remove the surface rust that always builds up there. Then I wiped it clean with brake cleaner. Then applied some Dynomat type material for sound and heat.

One more piece of the puzzle done. Man my fingers are sore! Pushing the little clips on the edges really is a challenge. But it's in and now I can do the glass! I still have to build sail panels. I got a set from a friend to use for a template.

I lowered my steering column and dash frame and installed my new to me dash pad. It was brown and I painted it Landau Black by SEM. I did learn you should unhook the speedo cable prior to getting the dash hanging half way down! I found some numbers that weren't on my replacement. I also found a tag on the heater I read about in Moparnation's thread.

Progress is coming along very nice! Great job on the headliner! Love the fact you found the heater box tag, thanks for sharing that!
 
Ok, we are getting close now! Seat belts, front seat back in, front door panels and glass. I should be able to get a mechanical inspection and have this old runner on the road by weeks end!

Justin, I never would have thought twice about a tag like that, had I not been following along in your super detailed thread! I actually removed it and put it in a bag for safe storage. Maybe someone will need one someday and I will have it for them.
 
That's it. Door panels are on, seat belts are complete, all trim is in, chrome is on the windows. Someday I will get new seat belts and a front seat cover, but for now, I am going to drive it like it was 1969! OK, maybe not, I was 4 then, but you know what I mean!

Hell your still a young pup,the car is looking real good n beefing built the way you want it ,drive it, that's what we use to even before the safety lol has it quite snowing out there yet.
 
Lol. Young at heart anyway! Yup it is built to park in a parking lot right at the front door! It has quit snowing sort of. Got a little today. But that is not going to stop me. I want it on the road by Friday, my late mothers birthday. If she had made it just a little longer this would have been the last muscle car she road in. As it sits, her last ride was in the Scamp. I want to do a cruise for her on the 28th. :)
 
I should have mentioned, that during the install of the windshield, I measured the glass thickness. I have read about glass not being the same as stock and having trouble with sealing in the gasket. I am comparing to a piece that was in the car. It was Gaurdian Glass. The new piece is the same thickness as the old.
 
4? You're the same age as me then! I remember, very well I might add, looking out the window of my Dad's Chevelle SS, and seeing the Road Runner decal on the doors of 68 and 69 Road Runners; I was hooked even then...
 
I took the runner for a burn down the gravel today. Even made it into 4th gear. I'm hoping to get in for inspection tomorrow, but my guy is quite busy and not sure if he will have time.
