I have decided to swap my Tremec TKO 5 speed for the T56 Magnum 6 speed.
Even though I feel the TKO 600 has been a great transmission and has only a thousand miles on it.I have driven a couple of six speed cars and feel that the six speed would work better for
what I am doing with the car.
I know others have done this conversion and thought I would do a thread on my installation.

The transmission arrived this weekend.Sorry about the photo I was doing some celebrating.
Once I get the two engine builds out of the garage the Charger is coming in.Hopefully this swap doesn't go into a stall like my diesel hot rod did.LOL

I bought and installed one a few years ago. I also went with a Quick Times scattershield which gave me the conventional clutch linkage. I previously ran an earlier T56 and cleaned 2nd gear out of it. No worries about that happening with the magnum.
Good luck with your new Magnum!

How much horsepower can those TKOs take versus the T56?

I believe they are rated at near 700 HP and 750 Torque. 6th gear is around .63 overdrive, where the T56 was .5. Had mine on the strip for a few passes and had no concerns about breaking anything. Far stronger than a T56 and I found the T56 was much tougher than the Super T-10 or Muncies. I've crunched them all except the magnum.

When i first bought my 65 Satellite i thought of building it into a road car AKA pro touring, But not really pro~touring, more like a patina road car, its currently a 1/4 mile car, i do have the RMS AlterKation front K~member Kit and Had the
6~speed for the car but sold it off for a Gear Vendor this year my plan is to buy a race car and possibly turn the old 65 into a road car, Time will tell, keeping an Eye on this thread for sure !!

Awesome!! The big difference I noticed was quicker smoother shifts, the T56 being a single rail shifter makes it smoother.

I am excited for the new combo. I have 4.10 gears in the car now and going to change to 3.73. Mostly because I broke the differential a couple weeks ago giving my nephew a ride in the car.Well also so I can maybe do 160 in half mile next summer.

I am going to sell the transmission as a kit. I have interest from other FBBO members and will post the pics when I get the transmission out.
I finished the Subaru build last weekend and am hoping to start the engine assembly on the viper this weekend. Once that car is out I can get my Charger on the lift and pull the transmission.

Other than the obvious bell fly wheel change. You will have to clearance the tunnel some more, if didn’t already to fit the tko600. Also I’m not sure but are the lengths different? Maybe some driveshaft mods...

I'm doing a lot of mods when I do the T56 swap.Trans tunnel modification.I bent the front valance over the summer so I cut it out and am adding a air dam now.Building a serpentine system to work with the supercharger. I'm changing from throttle body injection to Multi Point Injection.Switching from the distributer to coil near plug and also I'm going from 496 CID to 540 CID.I'm on a quest for 1000 HP to the tire. I'll be selling the FAST Sportsman Fuel Injection System,MSD Ignition system and The 496 rotating assembly as well.I hope I can get the car back together before summer.

Didn't realize so many changes were coming down the line. Does the FAST sportsman not support port injection?? Or just wanting a different setup all together? I'll be watching as well!

Hey Mike, the fast system will do multi point but requires the addition of the fast Xim to run coil near plug and the multi point harness. After doing the math to change my Fast throttle body to multipoint injection and coil near plug there was only about a thousand dollars difference . A good savings for sure! But I felt I could sell my system to someone that could use a tunable throttle injection and maybe Msd ignition system and they could save a lot of money and get a good used system and I could make up the extra money that it cost for the new injection. Once I find someone who wants it of course. Lol
I totally spiraled out of control on this one. Thanks Joe

So the plan is to control your ignition from the new ECU?? Are you already Crank Trigger ignition or changing that too? Not sure if you have seen this chart before but it's pretty handy: http://documents.holley.com/efi_selection_chart62914.pdf

I am running the ignition from the Holley HP . Rich at FastManEFI has a Mopar specific Coil Near Plug system. I purchased my CNP and Fuel injection system from him.I like working with Rich.Nice guy and really knows fuel injection.
This is the third system I have bought from him.He helped me with injector sizing and the best route for what I am doing with my Hemi. The chart is very helpful.
Thanks,Joe

I put a TKO600 in my cuda with QuickTime housing, hydraulic clutch. Kit from American powertrain. Behind a fresh stroked 440. Worked awesome! I ordered the same for the 68charger I’m building. Can’t speak to the t56, heard lots of good things though.

I had reached out to Richard previously when I was considering EFI and since I know for sure I'm going that route I'll be checking with him again. I still have an MSD 6AL 2 Programmable new in the box that I can sell too since I won't need that with a Holley ECU doing that job.

You are going with the Holley HP ECU?
