Ive been reading and seeing 6 quarts plus 1 quart for the oil filter for 1970 hemi and 440 six pack oil pans but is that correct? How does that little filter hold 1 quart of oil? Seems like an overfill?
My 440 seems to be a little slow picking up oil pressure if the car has sit for several weeks. The engine is fresh with maybe 1,000 miles. It has a 402 pan/pickup and everything was normal there when I built the engine. I run 10w30 oil in in the engine and it currently has an STP oil filter...

I was wondering if it was possible to get another oil filter adapter for an 1986 Fifth Avenue 318 to where the oil filter goes straight into side of the block. I'm not up to date on the late model 318 engines. Any help is appreciated.
...This required the removal of the timing cover to access and repair the bolt holes. now I cant get the Dang cover back on due to the thick rubber oil seal at the top edge of the oil pan. I did a little research and figured if I lowered the oil pan I could bolt the cover on. Now here's the...
Two questions please.
1. Can a rebuilt stroked engine with 100 miles on engine but only 30 miles on recent oil change have dirty oil on dipstick? See pics for plug and soot on my finger from exhaust pipe.
Car has only been driven easy do to other issues such as brakes.
2. If the engine is a...
I am building a roller cam 440. I have a Milodon 32000 windage tray. I’ve not purchased an oil pan, oil pump, bronze gear roller cam oil pump driveshaft. I am putting the 440 in my 1966 Coronet, stock suspension height, stock suspension except 1” torsion bars, possibly upgraded but stock...
Now that I have a DIY timing tape on the 340 and a pre-oil tool, does anyone know where the cams needs to stop per crank degrees to send oil to each bank of of rocker shafts? Just trying to avoid unnecessary stops as I rotate the crankshaft to send oil to the lifters and valves. Thank you.

I noticed my transmission oil pan has a little oil around the outer edge and a few of the bolds are shining with lite oil. The car does not run and there is little oil in the transmission as this is a project car and just installed the transmission and torqued the cover bolts. Slight gasket...
Greetings! I did my first oil change on a big block Mopar last night. I looked up the recommended filter for my car and came up with the WIX 51515. After draining the oil I removed the old filter, put a little oil on the new filter gasket, and tried to install it. Note: I didn't fill it with oil...
Swapping out an oil pan and tube on a 1977 440 and having a trouble with the correct oil pick up tube. I had a Moroso deep pan and I’m installing a 440/Hemi pan with a Melling 63-S3 which should be correct. However, the thread size on the old pick up is considerably larger. Does anyone know if a...
I wanted to add some slip differential into my 69 roadrunner. When I opened the nut to the filler hole ,a crap ton of oil came out. Any ideas why?
I replaced the oil about 10 yrs ago. Not many miles driven since. Maybe 1-2k. When I replaced the oil back then, I only added enough to the filler...
