I'm getting ready to freshen the motor in my '84 pickup. I took out the slant six and replaced it with a 440 thirty five years ago. I have a set of 3769902 castings that look pretty good. Before I put in new guides, valves etc is there something about these heads I need to know? Good/bad...
I built a stroker wedge motor some years ago using a top fuel 4.5" stroke crankshaft. The motor has been sitting in my garage unused for years. I've finally decided to do something with it. There are modifications to the crank required to accommodate a torque converter. At the time, I contacted...
I posted this on another Mopar website: Suddenly the 727 in my pickup is not shifting into high gear. First to second is normal around 15mph unless I accelerate hard. Normal acceleration or otherwise it doesn't shift into high gear at all. It stays in second. I haven't changed anything...
The 440 in my pickup has started smoking after startup. It quits smoking after a couple of minutes. Blue oil smoke. Hard throttle after warm up, no smoke. If it's driven frequently, no smoke. If it sits for a few days, smoke. Is there something I should check other than valve stem seals?
