If a ship is on passage and suddenly incurs a blackout, then the momentum of the ship will still move in the forward direction until it can naturally slow down or if power is re-established. Loss of steering will also happen. Looking at this, the ship was steaming out of port, blacked out, lost...
Exactly the same issue with the melted terminal in my car KD. Except my cowboys just crimp joined where the fuse once was. All sorted now though. Good luck with your search. As usual, it's an interesting read.
Back onto it. My gas tank leaks gas when I fill it up. Of course the culprit is the gas tank seal. I removed the rear bumper and gave it a good clean. I took the opportunity to replace the sad looking rubbers on the bumpettes with a good repro pair I purchased from Tony's Mopar Parts.

FYI, the reason you put the system in a vacuum is to remove moisture. The vacuum lowers the boiling point of water and the water actually boils off when doing this process.
I was also able to take care of some other little odd jobs.
From the Mopar shop found some lamps to replace my blown, missing or wrong ones. I looked up the GE part number, but unfortunately all I got was Chinese made lamps.
It's a bit depressing as I stay right away from Chinese made...
So in light of discovering other wiring issues, I looked over everything that I could see, that was visible that may become an issue later. Lo and behold, I found that at some stage a PO had cut out the fusible link. It had probably blown and instead of replacing it, he just joined the wires...
Hi Louis, welcome back. The truck looks absolutely incredible. Must have been a labor of love, that's for sure.
I do hope you post your Challenger build on here. I know it's not a B body, but it would be great to see it. Last time I saw you post about it, all the sheet metal was off it.
Hi Roger, yes I agree totally. I like a thin smear of it too. I don't have any currently, but that's one thing I can buy locally here lol, apart from bratwurst and beer.
Ok, so after the radio install, I picked up an electrical Gremlin. The issue was that when I had the key on but engine was not running, everything worked. Started the engine and suddenly I had no turn signals and the power windows didn't work. Everything else did.
I pulled out my wiring diagram...
Onwards and upwards. Time to install the radio. Since my car was built in August of 69, I guess they were still using up parts from the previous years production. I have the standard dash with 69 trim instead of 70. So that means that it got the thumb wheel AM radio instead of the 70 2 knob...
That's interesting, thanks for posting that Jim. I took my info from the 1970 parts book
But of course they could have been using up stock into March or a PO swapped in on there.
By the way, I love your Coronet wagon in your Avatar. Very cool.
Another nice touch is to boot the Chinese air cleaner into touch and replace it with a nice original one purchased from a member on here.
And now
It really sets the engine off I think.
A couple of things to do. Unfortunately I purchased the wrong air cleaner hold down stud, so she will...
