So, when I primed the oiling system, I saw plenty of oil on the driver's side. About half of that on the passenger side. Yes, I rotated the engine.
My question is, does a big block have a pipe plug in a weird place like the small block that has a plug in the distributor bore?
I'm using a hydraulic roller cam in my 505 for the first time. So be nice. When putting in the roller lifters, does the lifter alignment bar go towards the cylinders, or towards the cam/center of the block?
My new question is: On my 505 stroker. I'm running a hydraulic roller cam. I fit the cam button, but the 3 cam bolt heads are too tall, and hit the timing cover.
Is there a shorter 12 point head than the 244-1001 I have now? I called ARP, and they were able to find thinner washers, but not a...
I am trying to learn to degree my cam, but it's making my head hurt. It's a 505 engine, not that it matters. I am working with the short block that already has the rotating assembly, done by the machine shop. I asked if they would degree the cam, but he said no. HMMM.
anyway, I did the finding...
So, I scored a SD intake for my 505 that I'm building. $100.
My question is; when using a square bore carburetor, what effect does the wider opening for the spread bore secondaries have? Or is it a non issue?
So, I saw David Frieburger coating his roller cam with what looks like white grease. Opinions? If it's good to do, then I will do it. I thought regular oil was what you used, but on an engine that sits in the building process, that oil will run off.
Tell me what you think.
I'm putting together the short block for my 505. I'm using a hydraulic roller. My machinist didn't put the rear cam plug in, saying he wasn't 100% on if it was different from a HFT cam. He didn't know if it needed a special plug. I'm sure it just uses the stock cam plug, but I'd rather ask a...
I'm building a 505 RB stroker. Indy EZ1 heads, hydraulic roller cam. I currently have an Edelbrock RPM intake. 64 Sport Fury. This is mostly a street driven car.
I have the valley plate from Indy. It won't fit with the RPM intake. The heat crossover is in the way. My choices are to have the...
I know it's been talked to death, but, I wanted to just mention what I found.
I changed the oil in my car last week. I had the Motorcraft filter on it. I went with the Mobil oil filter. After sitting a while, when I would start the car, I would hear alot of valve train noise. It didn't do this...
So, since I can't get parts to build my engine, I'm going to get my trans built, and sorted this year.
My question is
What needs to be done to a 727 so it will hold up behind a 600 hp engine? I know I need a bolt in sprag, and either the red, or blue clutches. Anything else? Thanks.
