One to many spin and tire shake on the sprag

Nope. Have one in my street car due to no shield. Not a fan of the 1-2 shift with them. My friend Joel pointed out a tweek. We'll see if it works. It did shake the tires once really hard. That may have started it. That was about 150 passes ago. Doug

    B&M Quicksilver Shift Cable

All stock floor shifter parts below the floor pan including the bell crank. All parts are in the factory location. The stock B&M cable attaches to the Quick Silver shifter in the original manner. The cable was cut long enough to reach the bell crank. The outside of the cable is only attached at...

One to many spin and tire shake on the sprag

Went to change the fluid and found a couple of familiar pieces in the pan. As expected, a sprag failure. Caught in time. It has the upgraded Super Sprag. Fortunately caught when it only damaged the spring cage and inner cam. Rest of the trans looks great as always. Runs aprox 900 hp at 3350 -...

    Motor-plate sealing recommendations

Made it out of .030" aluminum. Tin snips and blocks of wood clamped together to bend the edges. Made the fan supports out of the same material. It's pretty sturdy when there's a crease in it. Doug

Need help ordering crank and rod bearings please

The Clevite P series are the driver quality grade. If it's a higher output engine I prefer the H series. Doug

    B&M Quicksilver Shift Cable

I have one in my Volare console. Ended up using the factory linkage thru the floor. Then cut down a melted cable to about a foot long. Made an adapter to attach the cable to the stock bell crank that comes thru the floor. Just clamped the new adapter piece on and moved it in and out from the...

    Motor-plate sealing recommendations

The radiator in my race car comes out by disconnecting the fan plug, rad hoses, and 2 bolts. I've repaired the water pump in between rounds at the track. The studs hold the motor up in the plate. The plate stays glued with the RTV to the block. No need to reseal. In the past using gaskets...

    Leaf spring shackle flip?

Very little. Moving one end of the spring or the other 1" would only change the pinion angle about 1 degree. Doug

Thurust bearing taken out on new build. Help

If the main bearing was installed upside down you would have way more issues that the thrust. The rods fore and aft of that journal wouldn't get any oil with the oil feed hole located in the cap. Doug

    Why me? Blown head gasket?

Oil in the coolant in my experience makes a gummy mess inside the radiator. We had one block that the oil passage up to the right head broke into the water passage. How did I find it? Made a fitting 1/8" pipe with a air hose fitting. Then applied compressed air to the oil sending unit port. When...

    Motor-plate sealing recommendations

My intake is two piece as well. The first time I tried to seperate it Iwas stumped. Even using a pry bar and a block of wood under the 1/2" carb shear plate wouldn't budge it. It wanted to bend the plate. It was stuck but good. Ended up drilling 4 1/16" holes parallel to the gasket surface in...

    Motor-plate sealing recommendations

Thats why the oil pan gets a gasket. The motor plate comes off easy with a light tap of the dead blow, not much surface area. I would never scratch my stuff. Just had it off to mount a bigger alternator. Doug

    Motor-plate sealing recommendations

No gaskets. Clean surfaces. Ultra Grey sealer. Same exact set-up as yours. Been doing it with this motor 12 years. Over a 1000 passes. Zero leaks ever. Doug

    Leaf spring shackle flip?

Measure the angle. If it's off shim the housing with tapered shims betwen the housing and spring. You can move the housing up or down quite a bit w/o ruining the pinion angle, if it was correct to start with. You may have the pinion down in front too much. Doug

Anybody do their own small batch Alum Anodizing?

I did my own aluminum trim repair and polish. If there are any pits they will appear as white dots and look bad. Even if they are very small. The alternative is to not anodize. Our Challenger has pieces done with and without anodizing. It was restored in 2004. The non anodized pieces look just...

Does this look weird to you?

All depends what you like. When I built mine it was going to use 10.5Wx31 slicks. I wanted to make the tire look like it was in a stock wheel well. Not jammed to the front and rear edge. As these cars have a larger gap at the rear of the tire than the front. So in my case the front of the wheel...

Thurust bearing taken out on new build. Help

I've seen more than a few converters lately that are to snug in the crank. Various brands of cranks and converters. Make sure the converter slides forward to the flex plate by hand with no bolts. Thrust failure in BB Mopar isn't to common. Doug

Not a B body. But something to keep me busy

I towed my trailer with my Cummins once with no muffler. That was the Last time. Update it still has the gas carb on on it but Jeff's been taking it out for shakedon runs. Oil temo is higher than we'd like. But everything is the same as it was when installed in my sons 62. However it has only 25...

So it just needs a shift cable adjustment, makes a noise, and park doesnt always work.

Never did find the cause. The park cable adjustment was pretty close. May have been the shift cable was way off. They had the neutral safety switch jumped. May have been in gear and park at the same time and they tried to make it move. Anyway all fixed in the car. Here's the final carnage. Doug
