I ran a 650 Holley with mechanical secondary on a tired 318 poly. It took awhile to get the carb dialed in. I changed power valves, jets, accelerator pump cams, etc. Youi may need to make some adjustments. I'm now running at 349 cu in, with 9:1 compression, ported heads and long tube headers...
550 or 600 cfm Holley 2 or 4 barrel, you will need an adaptor plate/spacer. My adaptor is home built, not sure what the part numbers would be out of mail order businesses.

I cut out the rusted metal, treated the remaining with POR-15, and used weld thru primer at weld locations. The cap fits over the existing rail. I took measures to make sure the original rail did not move while doing this work. It fixes the damage by replacing the damaged metal with fresh steel...
Had similar, used Saf T caps. Looks like they are being sold through Classic Industries now. It is a sleeve that fits around the bottom and side of the existing rail and is welded into place.
I use the Accels with fiberglass boots in a 79 Corvette with block hugger headers. Been working great for many years. I burned through a few other types before succeeding with this combination.
