55 year old wiring, what could go wrong
I bought new harnesses for the Coronet Convertible. The corrosion in the bulkhead connect for the headlight circuit caused the crimp to heat up and become loose. Headlights would work for a few minutes, the contact crimp would heat up and loose...
Nice Coronet. I really like the 500 trim and lower blackout.
See the dreaded intake not fitting problem.
On my decked 451 engine with B-1 B/S heads and M1 intake, I had to take 0.100" off both sides of the intake.
I thought 440s and Hemi, but it is a good upgrade to prevent vapor lock.
Put 3/8" supply with a 5/16" return for EFI on the Coronet.
Used the Spectra CR9CFI fuel tank with internal fuel pump. Amazon is showing 1 for $468.82 + $65 shipping.
Out of stock at Summit and a few other places on a search?
I did a quick search for converter rebuilders in your area, and looks like there is a place called Oregon Torque Converter (541)741-0859
Since your looking for close to factory high stall, they might be able to make you a semi-custom one for near the cost of a factory rebuilt one.
Some places...
The old small block headers that ran under the left tie rod would put most people against headers. They were just too low and quickly became smashed and leaking.
The Big block headers I have used didn't have that problem, and then TTI and a few others started making better fitting small block...
If stock converter, and less than 9:1 compression I would just use the small duration Hughes cam HUG SEH0610AL-13.
The dual exhaust and 4-bbl alone will wake up a 318 with a stock cam.
The hughes cam has more area under the lift profile. It lifts the valve faster and higher, but not much...
As mentioned, its just the motor mounts.
Haven't used to 440 source ones.
Have used the Anchor mounts, and never again. They are junk. The nuts were welded off center of the bolt hole.
Problem with higher education is the government subsidizing it. Same with health care costs. If students were paying with their own money the schools would have to charge reasonable fees. When you pay with other peoples money there is no cost constraints.
I don't have issues with the distributor(s), they fire the CD ignitions just fine.
I'm actually running a factory lean-burn distributor with the Fi-Tech EFI on the Charger. No reason to spend $400 on the MSD distributor.
I'm no expert on the history, but from my reading this is what I recall. I looked up the production numbers.
I don't recall the original car pricing, but they were expensive. Read that they were more expensive than the Aston Martian of the time?
Jensen was a coach builder starting in the...
The intermittent ignition problem I had was really frustrating. I think part of the problem is how the Mopar ECU detects the pickup signal. I think ground look problems (differences in the ground voltage levels) messes up the ECU trigger level trying to sense the pickup signal. Basically, the...
I have to say if you have headers that are hard to seal, the RemFlex header gaskets are really good.
I have the RemFlex on the Charger with the old 2" Hooker headers. These had issues sealing before the RemFlex gaskets, and I had tried several different ones.
The Coronet is using the SCE...
I have had the issue where it runs fine once started, but usually only want to try firing when the key is released from the crank position.
I found my battery ground cable to the block was dropping voltage when loaded with the starter cranking the engine. Releasing the key, starter stops and...
You could try "Two battery" troubleshooting.
Disconnect the coil and ECU from the cars power and connect another battery positive to just the ignition ECU, coil (use ballast resistor if you want), and the negative to the engine block and ECU. Then use the original battery to crank the engine...
Why a hydraulic roller?
I went that route on the Coronets 505" stealth headed engine, and it seems to be just as much work/ adjusting as a solid roller.
When i built the Trick Flow 240 505" stroker, I went back to a solid roller cam.
The duration of the Comp cam seems about right for a...
