What is the tacky material used to adhere the plastic backing behind the door panels? It doesn't solidify and seems to remain sticky. I lost too much when the old stuff was removed to just reattach new plastic.
Thanks,
Jon
I'm getting ready to install a new headliner in my 67 post car, this model has the gripper teeth all around the edges (front, back and sides). In this case, do I still need to use glue to install it?
Thanks,
Jon
I'm working on the interior of my 67 Plymouth Belvedere I and am trying to decide where to go with it. The car was originally blue interior/white exterior and that just doesn't work for me. Blue kind of limits the exterior color options. So I thought maybe I'd go with black and leave the...
You can see the results I got with some spray "chrome" that was supposed to be more realistic than the rattle can paint.

Thanks, but it doesn't look like they carry Belvedere I panels. They have BelvII, satellite, gtx, but there's probably not enough demand for the BelvedereI style.

Hi all,
I am a beginner with upholstery. I haven't been able to find the stock door panels for my 67 Belvedere I so I thought I would try to create something similar. I don't know if there is a way to reproduce the dielectric heat stamp on the vinyl so I tried sewing in the same pattern...
Is there a way to replicate the dielectric seal in the vinyl without the high end equipment? I like to DIY wherever possible, but this may not be possible.

Anybody have a trick for painting (in lieu of actually getting it rechromed) the words on the dash (LIGHTS, WIPERS). My hand isn't steady enough for it and you can't mask it. The letters are raised, so I am thinking I can just paint a block/stamp and transfer it with a small stamp?
Thanks,
Jon
So, I got the Spaz Stix mirror chrome and once I figured out how to use the airbrush stuff again, I tried it out on an extra 66 dash I has around. You can sort of see in the pictures below what the piece looks like, it was a little rough to begin with but OK for a test. I cleaned it up, sprayed...
The paint looks like an easier solution and I've been wanting to use the airbrush system I got a few years ago. :) I ordered the spaz stix brand to give it a whirl. I'll post the results after I've tried it.
Thanks.
Has anyone tried this for the dash chrome trim? I am looking at a cheap alternative to having to have my dash and glovebox trim plastic redone on my Belvedere. I could go with repops, but I am thinking of modifying the dash and they are a bit pricey as well...
I thought it might be useful to share my recent experience in upholstery work to get some advice and maybe some tips from folks who have more experience. I'm a big fan of trying to do things myself if the tools cost less than the actual work. Half the fun is learning new things and picking up...
