Need some advice on Exhaust Systems

If you are trying to optimize your power stay away from baffled mufflers and go with a straight through, glass pack design. Baffles create backpressure, two baffles more than one, three more than two obviously but even one baffle is a restriction.

    Chrome Recommendation- Bumpers

I would not recommend Bumper Boyz. I have a rear bumper that I bought finished from Tri City a couple years ago. The inside of the bumper was not cleaned very well and the scale was just plated over - it will be coming off at some point. Also have some light "staring" around a couple of the...

    Header Noise or Detination

Try adding some high octane fuel to see if the noise goes away? If it does you'll know it was detonation, if not .....

Which way would you go doing a restoration?

Since you have the original drive train and stated you wanted to get the most money out of it if you sell it ..... I would say restore it to original specs. If you want to enjoy it in your own way then of course you do it your way. The only reason I could ever justify doing a car back to full...

    Tuning Help

Did a little checking, Petty's garage only does "project" work, not tune ups. Arruzza's shop only works on hemis ........ still looking for a good wedge tuner in NC (or northern SC)

    Tuning Help

I should have said in my area as opposed to NC in general. The Petty Garage is the closest at about 85 miles from me. Didn't know they work on tuning for individuals (or the others for that matter). I thought they were just building cars up there. They have a car show at the garage this coming...

    3" Flow masters

I replaced Delta 50s with the Dynomax Ultra Flows and they are a bit more quiet than the Flows. Especially at cruise speeds. The vacuum increase at the header tubes was significant and when I got home from welding them in my car was idling 200 rpm higher. Only down side is that I developed an...

    3" Flow masters

I just replaced my 3" Flowmasters with 3" Dynomax because the Flowmasters were too restrictive. They were causing problems with my header evac system. When I did the research I couldn't believe just how much more restrictive baffled mufflers in general are compared to straight through glass packs..

    summit wheels

As a rule, I won't buy Summit brand stuff. Most of it is real crap. After getting a really crappy set of headers from them for my F150 some years back I swore off any of their large items. Still tried a few of their smaller items like fittings and stuff but by in large I don't think the quality...

    Oil pan to a 440

Personally, if it is a big block and - if you have no real reason to keep it fully original, I would suggest at least 6-7 qt. They do make pans that are close to the bottom of the K frame. I don't think Detroit has made a V-8 oil pan in decades that is less than 6 qt. - for good reasons..

    My new toy!

Beautiful RR! Love the color and the 4 spd.. I would ditch that oil pan quickly if you are driving streets with it. Definitely don't remove your lower control arm rubber bumpers with that thing hanging on it ........ I had one of the 10 qt pans on my car and was always careful not to scrap...

Roadrunner at New Jersey Motorsports Park Cruise night

Looks like that was a blast? I took my old 62' out on the Rockingham Speedway last for 5-6 laps - but we had to keep it slow. That track would be more fun for sure.

First nice weather car show for me

Show season is just about over down here. It's already too damn hot to do anything outside - let alone sit out on asphalt for hours...... Did I mention I hate summers in NC?

Lost oil pressure 440 mag r/t

I would echo the recommendations of a couple others and look to your top end before you tear into the bottom too far. If you have a collapsed lifter (hydraulic) or a broken rocker or pushrod that alowed the lifter to jump out you won't get any pressure.
