High Zinc might not be necessary for a full roller engine but it’s still the best thing to use in my opinion. As long as there is no catalytic converter on the engine I would use high zinc in everything.

You really don’t want to be sucking water into your carb. A couple cars I had that had open scoops I would keep some foam plugs in the trunk just in case. Even towing on a trailer I would stuff them in.

When did Ma Mopar begin phasing out these twisted wire clamps (upper clamp) on the Bbodies? I’d love to get rid of mine on the fuel and coolant lines but also want stay “correct”…

I think you just landed the key - plugs! Had a really stout built 440 some years back that would pop at idle when the plugs got fouled. Ran fine with some rpms but popped like crazy at idle.

I ran a set of 5/8" for several years on a 700hP Plymouth with 325 ET Tires on 10" wheels and a spooled rear end and had no issues. The caveat being I didn't race the car.

Check with Brewers. They have some remanufactured ones.

Thanks Kid. I was thinking it must mean a closed vent system, as in PCV set up. I’m on the fence whether to change mine back to a PCV system. The draft tube is kind of cool, albeit not correct for the car. I do think a PCV would cut down on some of the combustion odors I get in the car.

i have a draft tube on mine. I believe they changed to a pcv in 1962 sometime?

What is a closed crank case vent? Is this a draft tube?

Super, thanks a lot ! The rear is currently a 3:23 sure grip. Seats are split bench with the fold down arm rest. Kind of disappointing that the original motor was a 2bbl version. Got a AFB on it now.

I wish I had gone that route and bought the cap kit. I’m stuck now with this sealed battery and the crappy looking fake top (which cost $64!!). At least for this year. I seriously doubt the topper will last the whole year without disintegrating..

It’s been a bit hectic the past couple of weeks but I did receive the brackets from Randy and they are an excellent fit and high finish quality.

Here are a few of it installed. Hard to see how flimsy it is without being turned over, but you can still see it in the pictures. Those “caps” are a single strip of plastic that has the six bumps formed, painted green and stuck through six holes it the top.

I put it on my battery but I’ll get an installed picture.

The caps are probably a much better way to go. I went and bought a sealed battery just to use the top on it. Learned the hard way yet again…
