I don't think it's at a particular age, but rather when you just can't swing the wrenches, get down (& up) to slide underneath it, and it's just not fun any more - IMHO. I'll be 71 this Sunday and haven't given up yet despite the Rice Krispy knees (snap, crackle, & pop), and other issues.
