'62 (and '63, '64?) parking brake cables

Not us,but I think many companies may be confused with a Dart being a "A" body and not a "B" in 62. That is that the Lancer in 62 is a Dart. Maybe ?
A friend ordered a transmission mount for his 62 Dart and what he got was no where near the right part. I think that the cables for the 63-65 should work. They look like the same length as your photos. Just a thought.

You mention yours are crusty and rusty. In th U.S. we have evapo rust. I've used it with success on just about every kind of metal. Now will the cable look shiney brand new....no depending how long you leave it soak, the galvanizing should still be there. You just need to check on the part every 30 min or so otherwise the galvanizing will come off, but you'll have rust free cables that will look decent and work.

Here's where I'm at right now on the research.

I downloaded the 1962 Parts Book from My Mopar. (Don't know why I haven't looked for it before)
http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=107

The OEM part number is 2260-212

Dorman has a OEM # search option and it comes up as the intermediate cable.

So that shows you that there is some error in their system. This intermediate cable is correct for the '62, just not the right OEM cross reference.

I measured my intermediate cable and it's almost 57". I haven't installed this yet, so it's easy to measure. My rear cables are installed and not so easy to get a accurate measurement.

I emailed Cass at Dr Diff. Here's his reply...

Hi John,

Unfortunately, all my listings start at 1963.

You can get custom made cables. You must provide all the dimensions, however. See below:

www.controlcables.com

Thanks,

Cass

By the way, I searched every number in the Dodge/Plymouth column in the parts book and they were all dead ends.

If it's rusty I would think the galvanize is mostly gone. Silver paint brush on if you want a stock look and to slow oxidation .

1963 has different part numbers.

Dorman OEM cross number comes up with that C92205 cable.

I don't think they are out there. You might be able to use the cables that you bought (C92205) for '63-'65 and use the longer intermediate cable for a '63-'65. The only intermediate cable I could find with measurements was 102" long. You would have to mock it all up and see what lenth would work. (just a thought)

Such is life!
