64 Plymouth Belvedere build

very nice work. what motor is going into it? 426 hemi I hope.

Going with a 605 inch all aluminum Kieth Black HEMI. All motor no power adders with a T 400 transmission.

do you have a driveshaft? what is the length of it?

almost done with the chassis

Just finishing up a few odds and ends, plugging some unwanted/needed holes and getting the door bars in. Have the NHRA inspector coming over to certify the car. Then off to media blast and then on to the body work for more winter fun.

All welds are TIG welded. My son loves to TIG weld!

I love TIG welding too. When I weld in my chassis ties, I'll TIG them in.

Are you sure your chassis will be strong enough? (!!!!)

Love your work Rick, beautiful to see!

finished for now off to paint

Just finished up a couple of odds and ends. Window net mount, seat belt mount, rear bulkhead panel and internal battery cut off switch.

Soda blasted

Got the body soda blasted over the week end. This thing is solid. Thinking about just clear coating the bottom of the car. The car has all the original floor pans in great shape.

Clear coating the bottom would look sweet. Congrats on the cage certification. Looking great.

Yes I agree clear coat, would be a shame to cover that with a colour.

Not sure if I could teach you anything RVW but spend extra time blowing out the left over soda from all of the chassis ect, my first few passes at the track were very cloudy :) after a back to metal soda job.

TOP STUFF

The only problem would be if the clear coat got some chips. They would turn rusty pretty quick. Sure would look awesome though!

Missed a spot, lol!

Looking good!

The trouble with clear coat is you can't seam seal the spot welded area's (factory frame rail to floor pan etc). Sooner or later it'll get moisture between the pieces causing rust stains. I spent a day seam sealing the bottom and wiping down the joints so it didn't show when painted. My Challenger was done the same way , 12 years ago, still looks fresh.
Doug

Good point Doug we have decided to go with the semi gloss black on the under side. The car is going to be Black exterior and red interior.

The SEM's hot rod black kit works awesome. Cleans well and is VERY durable. The other thing I should mention is with open headers the bottom gets dusty and sooty quick (even with proper jetting). I wash the bottom of mine 2-3 times a year.

Awesome work!! Run E85, that will eliminate the "soot"! I just had my 65 Dodge sedan blasted, getting ready to start a NSS build... Great work, keep the pics coming!
