I'm trying to find out what kind of transmission I have in my 69 Charger. My numbers are as follows: PK3681864 4743 0116

I'm trying to figure out if it's a 3 speed, 4 speed, or what? I'm getting the gears in my rear end changed out and I'm trying to figure out what gears are best.

Thanks

3681864 is a 727 that came from 1974/1975 car with a 400 engine.

All 727's were 3 speeds.

Check your numbers on the other side, on the smooth pad, should be a number then a letter & then six numbers. The first is the year, the second is the plant of manufacture & the last six are serial number of the original car.

Great. Thanks for the info. Very helpful. Any idea what the 4743 and the 0116 numbers mean?

I believe those are date/serial/shift codes of some sort. Insignificant for your purposes unless you're looking for a date coded transmission for a 1974/1975 car.
