Chip Foose.....why?

chip has talent don't quite like it much I think his father had a lot more talent

Would this be just right?
View attachment 501513
Foose has never done anything like a "donk", his stuff is one off pieces that fit the wells neatly.
I'm not a 20" fan either but his designs typically try to pay homage to the originals. and I agree that most of his builds are either basket cases or ones that were not of any historical significance.
The numbers purist will never be fans of those that customize. What a boring world it would be if the only flavor was vanilla.

Yeah that 64 was a favorite of mine also. He left the original interior in the car. I believe about the only thing that could not be easily undone on that car was the bumpers. I believe tightened them to the body. They rebuilt the original motor and trans and changed the body color. Very nice in my opinion.

I'm with you 100%. Hate the stupid pimp wheels and rubber band tires. Man I hope that trend dies soon. Might as well add some ridiculous looking flames and shag carpet on the dash.

dont forget the chain wheel and the dingleberries hanging from the headliner in the windshield

Chip is very talented for the market he caters too and the name carries the product as well. If you employed him to do your personal car. You as the owner have the right to decide what you want and do not want done. The show Overhaulin is a whole different story in relation to that....and I wouldn't want a friend/family member choosing for me what I want in my dream car......even if I couldn't restore it myself but that is my opinion...to each is own on that...

In the Hot Rod/custom arena my favorite is Dave Kindig of Bitchin rides...That blue 60's Buick they did awhile back, WOW!

I have 17" Boyds on my SW and EVERYBODY who sees the car comments on how much they like the wheels.

just my personal opinion, no offense meant. i just like old school period stuff. i know its not for everybody

Tough crowd here

too each their own I guess

Not everyone is a full on 100% 1,000pt OEM Restoration or
the 1/2 assed kind of OEM interpretation like GYC's type builds...
That pisses me off even more passing something passed off as OEM
"when it's far from it", just closer...

I've met & talked with Chip Foose a few times, he's a great guy,
does a **** load for our military & charities, thankless time consuming ****
he doesn't seek attention for ever...
IMO he's done & accomplished far more than 99% of any of you on here,
have ever even attempted...
Cut the guy a little slack, just because you don't like one, two
or even all his build styles, he's a very accomplished builder,
100's of builds, 100's of Millions of dollars worth...

Chip Foose has also done quite a few builds for several OEM's
IIRC Cadillac, Chevy, Dodge/Chrysler, Ford, Lincoln, Toyota, Tesla,
Lambo, Audi, VW, some for Year One, Unique & few others...
IMO guy has some serious talent !!
IMO his team has some serious talent !!
not all his builds are Overhaulin' style builds...
IMO he's certainly not a 1 trick pony...

Chip has done far more than the cars you see on Overhaulin'
he's e renowned awarded builder, a customizer & a restorer
{he's won several Riddler Awards & many others},
he is in the Hot Rod Hall of Fame already, he has many styles...

Foose has never done a Donk to my knowledge,
some of the friends of the owners pick the wheels & sizes
for the builds on Overhaulin' too...

He does own a custom wheels co.
M&H makes them for him...

He's done far more for the hobby, the market & the industry
combined, in one month, than most could do in a lifetime...

I like some of his style, not all of it, but what ever he does
is spot on perfect, quality/craftsmanship...
Whether I like the style or not, the stuff he & his team all do,
is near perfection, may not be my style all the time,
but it's impeccably done, craftsmanship is bar none or one of the best...

I dislike the stereo crap the most, it's a total waste & not my deal
but it's done right, when they do it, quality state of the art **** !!

IMO some of the wheel choices I like & some I don't,
depends on the builds...
I can say that for any car on here too,
IMO that's a "to each your own taste" deal...

No offense meant or intended but;
Personally anything other than a set of painted 14"-15" steelies
& poverty caps please, way overdone...
Road wheels & Magnum 500's for a Ford on a Mopar {?},
some are correct some are cool too, but not on every damn car either...

IMO Wheels/Rims are like jewelry, different people have different tastes...
I prefer a Salt Flat or Halibrand type wheel, a day 2 look
on almost any 60's muscle car, over stock **** &
the wheels can be changed too, it's no big deal...
What I like, you may hate, what you like, I may hate !!
It doesn't mean it's ****, just means someone doesn't like them...

I personally don't like when the rim diameter gets over 20",
{I like a little sidewall to the tires too, usually over 18" you don't get any}
especially on 60's muscle cars it just doesn't fit my tastes,
but even 20" looks good sometimes in the right wheel wells,
right tires & again it depends on the car & wheel styles...
Hell, I hate most of them, I'm very picky/opinionated when it comes
to wheels styles, but I can look past the wheels, they can be changed easily,
even if they can make or break a builds style/look...

The were a few shows I liked, I've seen them all...
IIRC Foose & OH team did a 66-67 Coronet beauty/dark green
org. that putrid piss yellow, bench seat car...
Chris Jacobs was playing designer, did the rendering,
Foose was the actual guy designing...
Beautiful car, nice wheels & design,
I personally didn't much care for the bumble bee stripe on the rear,
but it fit the theme, it was a custom logo for the guys baseball team
& the guy loved it...

Foose & his OH team did another
69 RR org. had a 383 car 4 speed Convertible,
build was like 2005-ish IIRC {guy tried to claim it was worth $70k on ins.}
guy from LA, car sat for ever, it was a gift from his wife
a rust bucket all hidden under Bondo & the paint,
fugly *** red org. style paint,
it got a 426ci Hemi crate engine & 5 speed, nice blue & silver stripes
{stripes I didn't care for in the rear, front were pretty std. IIRC}
great gauges, with a silver background, really nice mildly custom
interior...

Foose & OH The 64 Fury build was OK, rims were OK,
IIRC color was nice it was a champagne/gold-ish color/not silver {?}
I didn't like some of the stuff, like the orange in the trim, or tape
but the wheels & tires were fine, engine was basically stock cleaned up
325hp 383 4bbl
IMO It'd have never got built, it would have just sat until the guy died,
he could barely move...
At least he drive it now...
Daughter in law did it for him, he saw the car before he new it was his
looking at some mid year Corvette & he loved it {his Fury},
said to paraphrase; "he wished he could do his like that some day"

Foose & OH did a green 70 R/T 383 Challenger
Father did for his son out of Sacramento area...
I liked for the most part, a few things not to my taste,
but very good quality of build

Foose & OH did a 70 Cuda that had a replacement 440 org.
that was a total turd in it, the owners husband built,
they made it run nice & rebuilt it, to actually function properly,
painted it Purple, that I didn't much care for the color,
changed color mid stream it was gonna' be Black,
the guy eneded up loving it, it was his wife's car anyway not his,
she inherited it from her grandma...
It was built to appease her not the husband...
IMO some stuff I like & some I didn't, the wheel style is not my taste,
but that's an easy change...

I can say I can pick apart most everyone's cars, doesn't mean they're ****,
just not my taste or style, I don't go off telling everyone
"it should be left stock or that's ugly" etc.
IMO there's really no need for that ****, if it floats the boat of the builder
& owner that's what counts...

Ok enough, that's my $5 worth, whether you like it or not
Chip Foose is a great builder, he'll go down as an ICON
& a true stand up guy, a real car guy, not just sitting around
"critiquing everyone else", he actually builds them, puts some
forethought into his builds/designs, not just a parts replacer/restorer....

Amen to that, Bitchin Rides has top notch talent, attitude and sick cars. Always upbeat and impressive.

 :poke:

Anybody remember the show called RIDES? It jumped around different shops showing off the different builds, paint jobs, etc. That's where I first learned of Rad Rides (built a sick Cuda for Joe Rogan) and got to watch the building of Kenny Wayne Sheppard's Xtreme Lee which inspired my build. Cool show... most of the time.

ok, now this is just wrong!.....

Mario must respectfully disagree, Don Sonny.

She's a real NASCAR-type homage. By a NASCAR guy. Think Lee Petty. She's a bad-*** car.

Sorry Sonny, I respect your opinion, but I really love that car. Nascar inspired and built to race. I'd love to hit a road course with that car. Just my opinion. I love your car too. I appreciate each in there own way.

Indeed. And ya gotta love the name...ForPly. lol

Ya I think the very first episode had Troy pull up in a stock sounding 1000hp 92 Vette...Thats when I instantly became a fan. I think he and Foose are pretty much equals in asthetics....but Troy is geared more towards maximum performance.
Foose is the only builder I know of that was asked not to enter a car in the Autorama and out of the Riddler contention.
Some of ma mopars designs I think we're improved on...the Belvedere is in rare air ( I think it belongs to a member here, lucky sob!)! Blowfish was ahead of its time with the turbos and the 300 is timeless...
