It never ceases to amaze me at the length some people will go to exercise their "southern engineering" skills.

Looks like the balancer bolt broke. After digging out the broken piece they discovered the bolt was too short. Solution, cut the head off and weld a piece of ¾-14 to the remaining crankshaft bolt. Add a ¾ nut and a couple big washers. Finally, for good measure, weld it all to the harmonic balancer. Wala!
