The Detail:
This 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner is a correct and numbers matching RM23 car built at the Los Angeles assembly plant.
Research shows that this vehicle spent 38 years with the original owner in Sacramento California and was sold to a friend in Washington State in 2007.
In 2008 the car was imported into Alberta Canada where it was garaged for 7 years adding less than 100 miles. In 2015 the car was a dealer trade-in for a Dodge diesel truck who then sold the car to the current owner through a broker.
Matching numbers are present on the engine, transmission, rear end, intake & exhaust manifold, radiator & water pump. Matching VIN is present on rad support and trunk lip and fender tag.
The 383 big block is a HP rated engine, matched with a Hurst 4 speed transmission, a 3.23 Sure grip axle, and with the 8 3/4-inch "489" case rear end.
The complete powertrain was rebuilt approx. 12 years ago with less than 2500 miles since.
The engine runs incredibly smooth and starts instantly, the manual transmission shifts with precision and ease. The original Carter carb was replaced with an Edelbrock years ago.
All electrical components and gauges work as they should including the tachometer. Speedometer needle has a slight bounce at low speed.
The exterior was refinished many years ago with the Sun-fire yellow it was born with, vinyl roof and factory stripe. The Interior was completely redone with correct seat covers, headliner & carpet keeping this Roadrunner true to original build.
This California vehicle is a solid example of a rust free Roadrunner with original floor pans, body panels, and sheet metal. A small section of floor was repaired behind the drivers seat and the trunk pan was replaced at some point. The overall paint, though not perfect, is good, with minimal skim and no real visible issues. The chrome was redone and is in overall very good condition.
2016 summer work included a 12” front drum to disc brake conversion, air shocks, suspension, electrical work, installation of halogen headlamps, period correct chrome exhaust tips, and new BFG redline tires. A second set of American Racing Wheels and BFG tires are included with the car.
This car is a reliable driver showing 113,750 miles. It lives in a climate controlled garage and is looked after. A true example of a quality car that will continue to appreciate as an investment. You will be hard pressed to find a straighter, better looking and original driving Roadrunner.
The car is located in Toronto Canada.
