So my original radiator in my 1973 Dodge Charger (318 w/ AC) has major leaks. The core is 26", but when I ordered a radiator for a 318 '73 Charger w/ AC from napa, the new radiator was much smaller with a 22" core. The part number is CU511. So.... I did some reading and it appears that only griffin makes a radiator the same size and spec.... but it's aluminum and costs $650. I could recore the original for $300-400, but if I can find a new replacement for cheaper, I'd do that. Anybody?

Cheaper to have it recore and have them upgrade it to more rows.

I would keep an eye out on ebay for a good used one. Lots of guys are pulling these out to either put an aluminum unit in or they're going to a big block and want a better radiator, so there's a few of these selling for about $100.

If the tanks are good, not cracked or have flex meaning they are weak, then get it recored. I would suggest Glen-Ray radiator, but if you shy away from the aluminum radiator cost, you wont like Glen-Ray, they do excellent quality work and guarantee it, but they are expensive.

Glen-Ray does top notch work,
You mentioned installing a big block it would be a good idea to get the one you need for the BB.

Well I sent it off to NAPA to have it recored.... I hope that'll be somewhat inexpensive! Their estimate was $300.

I would have found a reputable local radiator shop before Chinese NAPA auto parts.
There are a few sources for 26" radiators from replacement to concourse. But it is $500 and up for a good new.
$300 for recore is not bad as long as it is done correctly

Since many of the newer vehicles have plastic tanks made into the radiators now a good radiator shop is hard to find.

Guys, this thread is over a year old. I have no idea how it resurfaced. Since I posted the thread, several repops have come on the market and solved my problem. Thanks, though!

I have this one.

I don't know what it would cost to ship, but it's yours if you pay it. 3-core out of a 71 B-body, 318 car, 26"
