has anyone ever seen one of these? My 64 is a sport fury but I don’t recall ever seeing the golden commandos portion of this emblem on any car? Any insight? Was this a factory option?

`62 is correct.

Yep 62 I know where there is a 62 SF sitting behind a body shop all original and the emblem is on both sides it's a 383/4

There should also be one on the passenger side of the deck lid.

Ok this makes sense. I was thinking this was some tribute to the race team

Commando/GC badging ended in '63. Commando was a 361/4; Golden Commando was 383/4

383man has them on his car.

I'm not sure about this, perhaps someone else can add something. Some years ago I had a '62 Sport Fury factory Golden Commando car. The emblems on the front fenders were: "Sport Fury Golden Commando". However, I think the one on the deck lid simply said "Sport Fury", no Golden Commando. ??

Honestly, don't remember on the 63 I had, since the car has been gone since 1969.
On the lower front fenders, yes.

Yes as my 63 Sport Fury is an original 383 car. I don't have any close up pics of the fender emblems but if you look close you can se the "Golden Commando" emblem under the "Sport Fury" emblem on the fender. Ron

According to my '62 parts book the deck lid '62 Sport Fury name plate is part # 2252-359. The front fender name plate for a Golden Commando front fender nameplate is part number is #2276-715. Since the parts book call out is different part number for the deck lid than the front fender I think it's safe to assume the deck lid emblem did not include the "Golden Commando" script. Both parts are '62 Sport Fury only. Then again, as we all know, at times the parts books are as clear as mud. I hope this helps.

62 GC's were 361 ci., the 383 GC came out in 63. 383's in 62 were rare and only came through the fleet division. The 62 Spt. Fury used The GC name in the Spt. Fury emblem, all other models used the gold GC badge at rear of front fender.

You forgot the 62 Dodge/Plymouth 383 2x4 343 HP.
