Videos from the 28th Annual Sahuarita Classics Car Show in Sahuarita Arizona 01282023

I own a 69 Dodge Coronet 4 door and a 1966 Dodge D100 RAM Pickup as well as a 1969 Corvette. My Dodges are shown in Part 1. I am one of those people who appreciate cars of any make or model, but I am partial to the MOPARS and the Corvettes as they held a special place in my heart due to experiences in my youth. I am sure you know what I mean. Back when I was 10 or so, I was laying on my stomach in the grass with a friend who was 12 or so, and we were watching cars go by on a main road in Oregon City. He was calling out makes and models as they went by. Then I saw what I now understand to have been mid 60's Corvette Coupe. It looked like a jet fighter to me and I exclaimed "what kind of car is that?". He said "that's a Corvette!" Right then and there, my love for Corvettes was born. A few years later, we had moved to Eugene, Oregon. There was a kid in our neighborhood named Mike and he had a 1969 Super Bee. He was infamous in the neighborhood for doing burnouts and pissing off the adults. One day I was walking down our street when I heard Mike's car behind me. He got up to where I was and out of the blue he says "hop in, let's go for a ride". He had never asked me before or after, just that one time. I got in and he said "put on your seat belt and make it tight". I complied. We went around the block a few times just cruising and it was fun. Then we went to a street that was kind of between our neighborhood and the next one. I remember there was a church there. Mike stopped the car and looked around, then told me to hold on. Mike proceeded to introduce me to the act of "burning out". It was one of the most violent and exhilarating experiences in my young life and I still remember it clearly today! It was sensory overload! Smoke, noise (engine and tire), acceleration, shaking, and the smell of burnt rubber. As quickly as it started, it stopped. I was still not sure what exactly had happened, but I got that Mike was headed back to his house. He put the car in the garage and shut the door. I headed home and he went in to his house. In those few seconds of the burnout, my love and appreciation for MOPARS was born! My neighbor got a good pic of almost all the nearly 400 cars at the show.
