Hello from Phoenix AZ!

Hello to all of the folks here who I haven't met yet and also a big hello to those of you that I know either from other Mopar web sites or know personally!

My name is Richard and my screen name is
thebankerstoy. I live in "sunny", ok, HOT Phoenix Arizona and I am retired from the banking business after 33 years of service. I have been a HUGE Mopar enthusiast for over 25 years now and before that, in my youth, I also owned some very interesting Ford and Chevy muscle cars.

My current group of Mopar's include my 1966 Coronet 500 2 door hardtop, powered by a 1969 hp 440, along with a full manually shifted 727 automatic transmission and an 8.75 rear end with 3.91 gears and a Sure-Grip, which my wife and I have owned since 1989. We also own a 1999 Ram 1500 Sport Quad Cab short bed that we bought brand new in April 1999, which I have had some custom paint and suspension work done shortly after we bought it. I am also half owner with my brother-in-law on a 1970 Cuda race car project that we purchased back in 1979. Last but not least, is the 1972 Dart Swinger that some friends and I restored in 2005-2006 for my son after buying it for his first car back in 2003 with only 58 thousands miles on it.

Currently, I'm getting ready to do a complete interior restoration on my 66 Coronet, which will take it back to a much more factory look and will include changing it's current black and yellow color scheme, to the pearl white and black that was offered on these cars in 1966. EVERY interior part will be either NOS, new, or restored and I will also be restoring the cars factory installed power windows and air conditioning systems, along with replacing all of the cars wiring and looking over all of the electrical system parts and pieces. .

Thanks for allowing me to join such a cool web site that lets everyone express their thoughts and ideas on the awesome B-Body cars we love so much! I am looking forward to meeting lots of new friends here!

Welcome. Hottest place I've ever been was Lake Havasu. It was 120 and 4% humidity that day. But that (according to the news that night) wasn't the hottest place in the nation. There was some other lil town just south of there that was 121'.

That most likely was Gila Bend. A friend from MN moved there about 15 yrs ago. The first time I went to visit him it was 118 and my wife asked how he could stand it and if he didn't miss MN and the change of seasons. His response--"Hell No! If I see a snowflake here It'll be time to move further South."
He is still there.
Maybe I'll go see him in the winter when its only 90.:whew:

By the way charger 70, before I bought my 66 Coronet 500 back in 1989, I owned a FK5 Dark Burnt Orange Poly 1970 Charger R/T that had the Bumble Bee stripe delete and instead had the much less seen pin stripes that started at the back of the quarter panels and came down the sides of the car and wrapped around the R/T door scoops and then returned to the rear of the quarter panels. It also had a black vinyl top and a beautiful factory white interior that I had fully restored. The original 440 and 727 transmission were no longer in the car, but it did still have it's original 8.75 rear end along with 3.91 gears and the factory Sure-Grip.I built a 1969 hp 440 for it that was stuffed full of Mopar Performance / Direct Connection parts and pieces. It also had a heavy duty 727 automatic with a shift kit. It was a VERY nice car that I had done a LOT of restoration work on and looking back now, I wish that I had never sold that car! :sad:. I don't have any digital pictures of that car, but it looked VERY similar to the Charger in the picture posted below.

The other pictures posted below are of a 1966 Coronet convertible with the same interior color scheme and look that my hardtop will have when it's redone. White interiors are REALLY good in hot weather locations! :yes::grin:

By the way, here's a few pictures of my other hobby......1/18th scale diecast cars. I now have over 700 cars and trucks and had to remodel my family room to display and store them! The cars are stored two to four cars deep, depending on the depth of the shelf and two cars high, so it's kind of like running a 1/18th scale car lot to keep track of them all! :grin: I have been collecting these cars since 1998 and all of them are still factory sealed in their original display boxes. These are older pictures, so many new cars have been added since. :yes:

Any other diecast collector's here on FBBO?

doin a 69 Bee first, It'll be a couple years before I get to the Chargers, but the R/T is B5 Blue, White vinyl top, White bucket interior with pistolgrip, console and a White rump stripe. Mm Mm MM! I can see it already.
I couldn't get on the club websight today-server probs I guess. Be sure to check it out when it comes up again. I gotta work, so I can't make the meeting. Just drop in and introduce yourself, they will be glad to have you.

It sounds like you have some VERY NICE cars there! :yes: The B5 blue and white 70 R/T will be an AWESOME looking car when you get her finished! I wish that I had a scanner so that I could share some of the pictures that show some of the work that I did on my 70 R/T, but maybe we can get together sometime and do some "bench racing" and trade stories about past and current cars and trucks. ;)

I just joined today and I already found a friend. I'm going to try to get a profile posted soon, maybe with the help of my wiz kid Nella, the computer geek. You know she's all A-body but I think I can con her into helping old dad get up and running. We just came off the Helluva cruise last weekend and we are still scraping the rubber off of the cars. Yep, even Nellas car spent some time in the box. Talk to you soon and good to hear about your plans for the Coronet. Geof
