Ok i have a 67 belvedere II and it had a 383 and has now a 440, previous owner installed a lokar transmission drop down cable but never hooked it up to the carb. I notice the cable is set to far back to reach the carb and also doesnt have any good location to provide enough swing to pull the cable out when i accelerate. any help of solving this issue would be tits. Thanks in advance guys.

FYI i have most of the 383 linkage in the trunk.

here are 3 pictures of what im dealing with now.

I have the stud that clips the plastic end of the cable to the carb but there isnt a location on the carb to place it.

Looks like you may need the same bracket that I used that bolts on the rear carb nut. This bracket came from Lokar with the cable.

Joe do you or could you provide me with a picture of the bracket on your car? cause if i cant solve this, Im selling the whole car and buying something thats turn key and ready to go cause all this damn work i've paid for this thing is killing me!

I've never used the Lokar thing but from the pic it looks like all you need to do is get a ball stud at the parts house. Go to the hardware store and get some 1/8" steel and start fabricating.

The other thing you need to do is get the factory stud that goes in the bolt on MoPar throttle adapter. The stud goes in the hole where your spring is now and the spring goes right where the cable hooks on.

What he said. Your throttle cable is in the wrong place, and should "float" on the small side of the factory stud

69 rr, can you elaborate for me? with a picture maybe?

Thanks Joe, Ill be getting myself one of them today... Does anyone know what type of automatic transmission would have come on a stock 67 Belvedere II with a 383 big block?

Yeah it is... Unless the 440 can only bolt up to a 727 then i guess i have a 727 trans, but if the 383 original Belvedere transmission is different and does accept a 440 engine then I have no idea what I have or how to check for pyshical differences between the 2 transmissions.

Though the first TorqueFlite was the revolutionary A-488, called the best automatic transmission in the world, the most legendary Torqueflite model is the A-727, which replaced it in 1962. Assigned to the most muscular engines, heavy duty applications, and trucks, the A-727 used an aluminum case (rather than the A-488's cast iron case), saving about 60 pounds; in some models, it used a pawl (lock) for parking, actuated by a lever (1962-64 models) or by putting the transmission into Park (see sidebar).

Sounds like it might be a 727. Don't hold me to it. :rolling:

ok then, the reason i was unsure of the trans type was that I seen afew threads where the people mention the engine mods and then say "on a 727 trans" so i thought the 727 was a mod that can be done to the car thereafter but if you think its standard equipment then hopefully someone else can chime in and either confirm or correct the info.

Ok i got a small 2 parts large list of things i need to have this all hooked up... the bracket that Joe mentioned and pictured in this post plus a lokar throttle cable to work with the lokar bracket. total cost $84.51. thank god i thought i'd have to pay up the wazoo for this.

does anyone know or have an illustration of how the interior throttle pedal bracket attaches to the pedal... my pedal doesnt even hook up to the steel brackets. my pedal has got nothing behind it and operates by just rubbing against the metal linkage or bracket behind it...

Thats all it does. The pedal just rides against the rod that connects to the cable. The Lokar cable will have what you need to connect to the gas pedal, connection.

Ok i figured it out, the pedal isnt bolted flat against the floor panel so its tilting to the left which causes the roller to miss the back of the pedal. thanks for the help joe.

Woo WHOO! Parts came! Purchase from Coppa Automotive in San Pedro, the guy that works there through in a free mounting place with lock nut and bolt that i was missing from my lokar trans cable parts.

Sweet! Now go and put them on. And post a pic of the install.

Got the cables and bracket installed yesterday, my cars a freaken monster now when the trans kicksdown... I didnt expect my 440 to sound like a top fuel dragster at WOT. I LIKE!

I do notice that while my kickdown linkage cable is adjusted correctly, The transmission still shifts alittle late... for instance, 1st-2nd shift happens at 25mph, no matter how im pressing the throttle.
2nd-3rd gear change wont happen at 45mph so I dont even want to risk going faster to check if it shifts into 3rd... what can I do to get this 727 shifting sooner.
