OK...I've used these before, but don't remember the part number.

There is a needle bearing "pilot shaft bushing" that is a factory piece, and installs in the centering ring at the back of the crank (as opposed to the oilite which installs in the hole)

So the question is, does anyone know the number of this bearing??????

No part number yet, but this is what it looks like

Not sure what year your using so here is a mix of info that "MIGHT" help???!!

If its between 1936-64. I'd use a bushing part #53298 because the bearings heat up and cook the grease and it won't last. But your crank might not be properly sized for the pilot bushing because some engines originally in automatic cars were not all machined for something not used/needed.

The early trans (64-67) were all small pilot models. The 4-Speed overdrive transmission intoduced in 1975 is a small spline unit but has an extra-large pilot retainer O.D. of 5.125"

The drive pinion retainer pilot O.D. changes are caused partially by a change in the drive pinion itself. The small drive pinion (#307) is used with the small pilot O.D. The large drive pinion bearing (#308) is used with the large pilot O.D. The 1968-1969 383 used the #307 bearing with a special large pilot retainer (PN 2892256). From 1975-1980 the A-833 has used an extra large pilot (5.125") usually with the 308 bearing, but some of the 1975 models came with the #307. See chart below for drive pinion bearing retainer usage (1970-1980)

#307 D/P bearing - 4.354" pilot O.D. uses retainer 3410395
#307 D/P bearing - 4.807" pilot O.D. uses retainer 2892256
#307 D/P bearing - 5.125" pilot O.D. uses retainer 2960122
#308 D/P bearing - 4.807" pilot O.D. uses retainer 2801892
#308 D/P bearing - 5.125" pilot O.D. uses retainer 3873596

Is the # on your bearing FC69907???? If it is than the part # you want is # 53009180AB

This is for the 70 I'm working on. It just hit me (when he called from the parts store) that I needed a new pilot bushing, but I didn't want to use an oilite. I continued to dig and found an O.E. # 53009180 which I kind of recognize. I think that's the one I need.

(damned thing is I had taken a pic of the last one I bought so I'd always have the part number......but as you might expect I can't find the pic):angry3:

I hate that...I have a big file folder now,I put all my Mopar friends and contacts, web sites, part #'s,bills and anything "Mopar" I might want later on in it...It's helped out more times than I count.

I did a close up of the pic you posted it has the FC69907 # on it so you did find the rite # "53009180AB"

I appreciate the help/double checking. The owner just showed up with the valve covers, oil pan (all of which still have surface rust {read rust discoloration} inside them) heater hoses, correct lower radiator hose, (upper wasn't right) plug wires, motor and trans mounts, and the offending bearing......which wound up crossed to FC69907:grin:

Ah ha nice!!! ...Soak the parts in either Evapo rust or vinegar to get rid of the rust.
