Original is no longer an option since I cracked it after thinking I had it in a safe place!:argue:

Which brand did you buy?

Wow, that's much cheaper than the one's I've been looking at! $400+ shipped!

Did you install your own?

Who's rubber weatherstrip did you use?

Went through my local glass company as well.........Shipping was nutz trying to order one in. Believe the one put in my RR was PPG.

I belive the ones that the traveling vendors at car shows seel are in the neighborhood of $200-$250.

They're getting cheaper and more plentiful.

Wonder why?

Mine was PPG i think. I got it through a local glass shop as well and good thing too because they went through two windsheilds. I think I paid around $200 installed. I bought the weatherstrip from Dixie Restorations.

Safelite auto glass.. 239$. 68 dart. Installed

X2 with safelite,The guys there did a 64 cuda ,the rubber was from Steele.
They told me they can get glass for just about anything.

Just bought a front windshield for the wife's 70 Coronet at the Zephyrhills swap meet for $139 plus tax. The normal price was $169. They bubble wrapped it and boxed it for us. They make the rounds to various swap meets. I'll post the info for them when I get home frm work later today.

Windshields by Mike, $125 and a 12 pack of beer shared, for the 68 Dart

Just bought and installed a new AMD windshield from Jeff at 521 Restorations (on this site). It fit well. Had to get the rubber gasket from another member here that had a few extras. Those have long lead times. I had my body shop have their glass guy install after paint. He said they used a heat gun to stretch it, but still had to make 2 small cuts at the top corners of the gasket for it to fit. Then they sealed those little cuts with some rubber compound of some sort. It's not perfect, but it doesn't look too bad and doesn't leak.

I went through this about a year ago and we posted a big long thread on this as far as glass suppliers and distributors, so check this site for that. Most all are coming from Taiwan or China now. You can't get PPG glass anymore either. They sold it off to someone and it's changed. My best recommendation after all said and done was to get it from AMD. The gasket I'm not sure who has one with short lead time...

A friend and I installed it. Took about an hour working carefully. i used my original rubber seal. it took me longer to clean the rubber than it did to install the windshield.

Yea, my rubber was too far gone so I'll have to find a replacement.

Thinking about doing it myself and having a neighbor that builds streetrods help.

PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) sold 60% of it's glass business to a newly formed American company call PGW (Pittsburgh Glass Works). A majority of all the glass by PGW is American made. There is still PPG glass out there in limited supply.

Off PGW's website:

PITTSBURGH, PA – March 1, 2011. Pittsburgh Glass Works, LLC has announced today that the company will reopen its facility in Evart, MI. This is the result of increased demand for automotive glass products. The plant was originally purchased from Chrysler Corporation in 1998 by PPG Industries Inc.

Automotive glass products are manufactured and fabricated in six North American facilities located in: Berea, KY; Creighton, PA; Crestline, OH; Evansville, IN; Meadville, PA; Tipton, PA and a joint venture facility in Tepeji del Rio, México. PGW has also recently broken ground for a manufacturing facility in Sroda Slaska, Poland which is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2012.

If you're worried about getting Taiwan/China glass......That's where AMD glass is from, just like all their sheetmetal. I bought a set of AMD Quarter windows (with Taiwan stamped on the box) for my roadrunner and am not impressed with its fit (especially on the mounting bottom edge) or its blurry/unfocused blotches in certain areas. I will be replacing as soon as I can find a real nice OEM set.

Third call with Safelite over the last couple of days.

Local guys said just go online and buy it from one of the Mopar vendors and they really couldn't help me.

Got off the phone and called back the national number that I had.

The national Safelite rep called my local store and talked to the local shop and he got short with her just like he did with me! LOL!

She wasn't happy with that and said his manager WOULD be talking to him on Monday but she really couldn't help me out with availability of the windshield but did offer to do the labor for free due to my issues.

Thinking the best option is just ordering the AMD unit from Summit and being done with it.

Previous owner of my son's Satellite had the windshield replaced in '05 by a local glass shop. No markings on the glass, so no idea who it was made by.

I went ahead and bought the AMD one from Summit Racing.

Thanks for the help.
