I don't know if anyone is interested, but I just bought a second set of these self-locking vice grips at Lowes. They were on the clearance table for $12.49! I bought my first set a week ago, and these are awesome! They lock, you can use them with one hand, and you don't have to constantly fiddle with that adjustment wheel. :) I definitely recommend these for the tool box, and if you've got a Lowes nearby you might want to see if they are on clearance there too.

Thanks for the "tip" Bruzilla....
Hmmm, i was in Lowes on Friday, I just "ran thru" the tool section.
I'll pick a set up soon.

(My closest Lowes in 45 miles away)

PS: I live in the remote part of the Mojave desert....
"Is there a Non-remote part" ?

Every time I buy for myself or someone else buys for me the latest in locking plyers..... I end up with a new paper weight.

I always go back to regular old vise grips.

I shorely do like me a good vise grip.

Last ones I was gifted with were some clunky craftsman jobbies.... they work, but they aint no vise grip.

Yea, I go back to vise grip too. I have a set of robo grips that craftsman had out a few years back if anyone wants them...

My kids bought me a adjustable wrench from black and decker that was battery operated!

Say it aint so?

Yup. Its so. I am lucky to have an amateur tool salesman in the shop next to where I keep my mopars. He ownes a pressure washer company and over the past few years he has made a hobby out of going to different auctions and buying up all the tools and boxes he can get his hands on. A lot of the stuff he gets is from either retired mechanics or ones that have passed away. So he has tools from the 50's or older on up through the 60's, 70's and so on. Its nice cause he gets his hands on stuff like carburetor tools and ignition tools that you dont see anymore. Anyway, tons of wrenches and pliers and stuff. And vice grips. The ones that say made in the usa on them. This is no joke, all you have to do is hold a 40 year old used vice grip in your one hand and a brand new pair in the other and you can feel the difference. Its incredible really. Crescent wrenches are the same way. These tools are older than I am and work 100 times better than brand new junk from the snap-on truck.

I love my older than 40 years Vise-grips. I wish my grip was as good as it was over 40 years sgo.

I use vise grip to new ones just tear the teeth up on them trying to get anything loose i have a couple pair of old craftsmen locking pliers they work just as good as vise grips ,

My brother got me a pair for X-mas last year. I looked and played around with his set before I opened them as I didn't really need anymore locking pliers. I thought they sucked and didn't care for them at all. Exchanged them for something else.

My Lowe's also had Cobalt combination wrenches on clearance last month. The ones with the ends offset by 90 degrees so you pull on a nice flat thick part.
Seems like they were made in Taiwan and pretty good quality so I picked lots of them up in the common sizes.
The have blue and red coding on them for metric and SAE.
