I'm starting work on my 70 RR, with original motor, trans and complete body. Looking to do a restoration to factory specs or as close as I can. Car didn't come with an air grabber hood, would you add the air grabber? I guess it wouldn't be a factory spec car if i did!
It is a V code super track pack car. don't really know why i'm asking because i not adding the air grabber, I think!

It's your car to do with as you like. With that being said If you're worried about resale or originality and still want an AG just pick up another hood and store the original away. It's not so bad to take the car back to spec if you don't do anything that can't be undone easily. In other words mods made with wrenches and screwdrivers are better than ones made with saws and drills in my book.

thanks Mark, good advice!!

X2.

I will add that the Air Grabber setup is NOT cheap. Hood is about $1000, then you have the scoop, airbox, seals, springs, actuator, vacuum canister, switch, solenoid, air cleaner,... well you get the idea. I would price them all out before you decide but I would bet you would be close to $2000 in parts by the time you rounded them all up.

Just additional food for thought.

Speaking for myself, if I was buying a roadrunner and wanted original condition I don't think the addition of the air grabber would dissuade me from buying the car. It's an addition that most people wish was on their car in the first place. HOWEVER, since you already said you don't know why you're asking and won't be adding it, I guess it won't matter in the end.

The air grabber hood is pretty cool. My 70 rr is all original and I plan on adding the air grabber hood. Just keep the original hood if you ever decide to put it back.

If you're restoring it EXACTLY to the fender tag/build sheet specs, then I would not add it. However, once you deviate from the original specs, it is no longer "as it came from the factory", so you might as well go for the AG if you have the desire and the money. It's like being a little bit pregnant. And, as others have said, an AG mod is easy to reverse especially if you don't cut up the original hood.

If your building the car for yourself and you plan on keeping it for quite a while do what you want to it.

Air Grabbers are groovy, here is mine for your viewing pleasure.

I bought my not-numbers matching 70 RR with an air grabber hood but no hoses, canister, or switch. Since the original engine, trans, and fender tag were missing, I figured to go ahead and finish off the air grabber. Nothing like the sinister look of it slowly rising from the hood like it is ready to bite a Chevy in the @ss!

The Air Grabber looks totally bad-***. One of the reasons I bought my RR, even though it was not "original" !!! I love it.
