Less then honest seller alert

Thanks for posting this. I am surprised this entire deal wasnt a hoax. That is a incredible car for 8k. Someone always get screwed in this type of deals with mulitple sellers/dealer agents involved, it just sucks that it has to happen to good people like yourself.

Typical of some one who joined to sell something. This kind of thing happens at FABO too. I generally wont buy with some who joined in the last 30 days, or if their first post is to sell.

I think he started out with the right intentions. He joined to offer a vehicle to the folks who would most appreciate it, thats fine.

But he sacrifised his honor and integrity for greed.[/FONT]

One one of the forums I own, (for paintball), I set a 250 post limit that had to be reached, contributing REAL posts to the forum before our Buy/Sell/Trade forums appears to them.. ;)

Sadly enough it happens all the time when several people get after one item. The seller thinks he has sold himself short and starts to back up on what he said. That was the reason for his ebay comment. He thought he had missed out on some cash. It happened to me on a parts deal a few years back. Sorry that it did not work out for you.
As you say it only shows the persons true color.

I read that whole story and am still confused. The Will guy made a deal for 7900 and the Pete guy bought it for asking 8K??? Who got to the seller first?

That board, FABO and this board have the same problem. There is always a bunch of guys with no money blowing smoke up a seller's you know what about how great the car is and that just causes problem for REAL buyers.

The forsale ad's should be just that an AD with no capability for commentary.
I saw an ad on here yesterday for a car forsale for $X and then after a bunch of GLWS and drool and guy posts $8000 cash! Can't we just follow the rules and contact seller's privately through PM if you are a REAL buyer? Rant off

A FCBO members offer of 75 was turned down. Pete had offered 78 and the offer was under concideration when I asked if 79 would get it done. He accepted the offer with little concideration and we both confirmed we had a deal. He even set the amount of deposit and means of payment. An hour of so later he made a second deal for the asking amount...... A $100.00 bill more. No honor, no intregrety...... just plain greed.

To the seller the car was just a commodity. No passion and no concideration for the buyer. This is just a heads up for anyone who may have dealings with this person..... beware.
Will.

If you and the seller made a deal and in fact a deposit changed hands then that is plain wrong. However that car would seem to be a once in a lifetime deal. I could be wrong but if it was everything it was claimed to be then it was a steal. There lies the problem, it sounded to good to be true so unless you were willing to gamble you should have offered the eight grand from the get go, or see the car in person with cash in hand. id just chalk it up to one of those lousy things that happen

Your right Steve, His listing stated "OBO", so in the spirit of negotiation I offered 7900.00 and he accepted that. Why would one then offer more..? I was prepared to pay his price had he not accepted my offer.
I'm past it now. The car was bought by a fellow member and i'm happy for him.

Lesson learned. Greed trumps honor and intregrety sometimes.

Sad If he were a smart seller he would have PMed you back telling you that he had another offer for more money, and given you the chance to buy it first

that would have been the decent thing to do

if i told you id accept your offer of 7900 it would be done deal. A hundred or a thousand my word is my word but you didn't buy the car from me,you almost bought it from a guy who a lousy hundred bucks meant more than his word. Ive been were you are and not to tell you what to do,next time you stumble across a deal, jump on it,don't hesitate you lost that car over a lousy hundred dollars. I'm sorry it didnt work out, things have a way of working out, you'll find something even better.

So I could buy this car for $8500 if I just email the guy? LOL.

Id be pissed I missed out on that deal for only $100 dollars.

I think if the guy was greedy he would have just posted it on ebay after people started coming out of the wood work to buy it dont you agree??

Sucks either way my man.
