I have a 72 charger the build sheet under paint is CY8 , I have found Y8 but not a CY8 ?

hi check with TCP global color library. they have all the color codes. the code y8 is gold poly. is that the color?

Just got the car an it is lite brown, looking at at engine com an trunk paint looks like they made a bad repaint

The colors did change with the year.

CY8 (which I think might be a typo since IIRC "E" was the first year of the letter codes in 1969) would more than likely be different than GY8 (which would be a first year 1971 color).

That happens a LOT with "B5" blue.

EB5, GB5, and KB5 are all different.

So in conclusion you DO NEED the first letter of the paint code to get an accurate color.

try GY8 Gold Metallic

Agree...CY8 is not a valid code for that year. The tail or part of the "G" is missing making it look like a "C".

C would be model year 1967. I don't think CY8 would not even be a valid code for 1967.
