1971 General Lee ? !!!

Now I'm thinking about General Lee-ing my 72, just temporary mind you for a couple years till I save up enough to do all the body work and a real paint job, but for now, maybe decal it, fix my roof and remove the vinyl and rebel flag, front push bar bumper and horns, let the grandkids have some fun while for a couple years....just spitballing

....... general Lee has been done to death..... I too have a Hollywood theme going on ... I have a set of tail lenses for a 66 coronet 440... star taxis on the side and it was the taxis in deliverance... end of the movie... do the Richard Petty thing it pays a tribute to the greatest in raseing all time and not to a show that although it was cool destroyed countless cars in the making of it.

I'm a big Petty fan, but its been done to death as well, if I was going to do a nascar theme, I'd go buddy Baker or any number of the other drivers who ran a 72 Charger in the day, I have plenty of examples, besides, any theme can always be changed again later.

besides, if I do a nascar tribute, it had better have the ballz to back it up a little, and my 318 auto, wouldn't quite cut it, even though its built a little.

Yeah from what I've heard it was somewhere around 300 destroyed over the whole series. Hey Mike, I think you know Lee with the Superbird and yellow '68 Charger right? He was telling me that he used to live near the shop that converted the cars to GL's for the show, and some of them were even real R/T's. He said one memory he had specifically was while he was there checking them out, a guy asked if he could have an R/T tail panel emblem and the guy that owned the shop just threw him one and gave it to him for free haha crazy

Let's see some progress pics Mike! :icon_thumleft:

300 or so cars destroyed isn't that big of a deal really...about 1/3 of a percent. Dodge made over 89,000 Chargers in 1969, vs. only 46,000 in 1970 so there should still be nearly twice as many '69s running around...with all that recognition value added. :)

No progress ..

Been cleaning out my garage all month ..
Got to be out of my house by friday :sad8:
Can I put my 440 in your shop?

:icon_rolleyes:

Budro? he's got a bird?? I see it on his card.

He owned my Satellite one owner ago :headbang:

Mike..

photon, how many 71's were made ??

Very cool man was waiting for an update on this one. How's it run ? Any chance of a video clip?

Did you get some air horns yet?

With all the crap going on right now with the confederate flag, it may not be so popular anymore .

It's your car - do like you like it...! I like the BOAT thing. Been doing that on my X for the last 4 years. And that was in pretty good shape.... Good luck my man!
