Graveyard Carz Fall 2015

The most successful reality show on TV is This Old House. It's been on for thirty years. Very little drama. Focus is mostly on how to do the work. I wish more of the car shows would follow that model.

I quit watching the show; too many antics going on. The episode with him dancing and making stupid gestures to his employees while he is painting was the last straw for me. I take my work seriously and this kind of BS is ridiculous . Is the customer paying for all this wasted time ?

Yeah Graveyard Cars is a joke....waste of time.

The real deal is "Phantom Works". The show is all business and very interesting.

he does good work but i hate how he sometimes tells the customer the way he is going to make there car . If hes working on my car and im paying he's going to build the car the way i want it .

X2

In cars, sometimes, (most of the time) the customer is ignorant and has NO IDEA of how much it will cost, they only know what they think they want to pay, and then they try to Jew the service provider down to their levels. Dan on Fantom Works is exactly my kind of guy; no nonsense, he tells customers to walk away, a principled business guy for sure! I'm proud to say I've done that too myself to a well-heeled very white collared guy with his Maserati he wanted me to blast, when he started to tell me how I'm going to mount his car, I said find someone else! Yeah, GYC is watchable, but, it will die. This Old House is on PBS, people need homes to live in, people don't need old Chargers to live in, so, this is why that show prevails.

Can't stand Phantom works owner, some of the fab guys are pretty good,
albeit he did soften his attitude on Camera anyway, some in season 2...

IMO he's the epitome of the wrong attitude for good business sense,
that guy's really narrow minded, self serving arrogance, all about what's easiest
for him & not what's best for the customer, that Mustang Shelby clone he did was a
perfect example, you don't go rouge on a customers car,
you can suggest certain changes or just decline to do some work, let someone else do it etc., but certainly you don't take it upon yourself to change the build concept,
than have the balls to charge the customer for something he didn't agree to,
let alone want...

I'd never bring anything to him ever...

I know what it take maybe not all the costs associated, in some areas,
very little people ever will either, but some jerk isn't going to tell me
"It's my way or the hwy either" not on my car, I want it how I want it...

Businesses & owners like that IMO are the
"Best reason to learn & do it yourself"...

I'd never do that to my customers, the customer should be educated maybe,
not demeaned...
I never had any issues with any return business or people sueing me either,
I'd bet he has...
He's a narcissist jerk IMO, or just an act for a TV show like all the rest more likely...

That Show's OK, Not my favorite by any stretch of the imagination,
because of the owner mainly...
but I personally like GYC's even better, at-least they have Mopars,
not just all the cookie cutter Mustang Camaro Chevelle Vette's etc.,
even with all the Markism's & BS...

It's a conspiracy I tell ya"

FantomWorks is local to me...I wouldn't call him a principled business guy...Check out the link for a few reasons why. Nice that he's straight with people on the show though. There's a reason his super talented metal guy left after the first season and started his own shop. Yokum's Signature Hot Rod's is a great place to go if you need any kind of custom metal work done but I'd never let FantomWorks touch my car.

Supposedly he is a former Fighter Pilot. Not sure of which branch but I'm guessing Navy. Most Fighter Pilots are so full of them selves that it percolates long after they are no longer in the seat. That clown oozes of it. Nice old building though that he is housed in...Just My 2 Cents...cr8crshr/Tuck

First season some youn guy brings a VW Bug in.
He totally changed the Bug, told the owner that "This IS the way you want it"
Kid was truly upset with the guy.

Count me out of Phantom works

X2 with Tuck!

Albeit, I must say & defend the guy here...
he did give the kid some choices

It was an insurance job, wamb bam thank you mam $$$ job...
IIRC the insurance co. was only paying X amount for original damaged parts
not all the stuff the kid wanted done, disc brakes {car didn't come with disc.'s},
the lowering & paint/body damages etc.,
"allegedly" he didn't have enough to cover all 3 aspects...
Phantom works guy did get the ins. co. to sign off on some stuff,
{IIRC it could have either disc.'s or be lowered or the kid had to pay more}
but that kid was an utter & complete entitled idiot & screwed up that build too,
he would have had to pay for the extras, but then he refused so
then Phantom works removed the disc. brakes,
then put it back to the old style weak a$$ little drums & new shoes etc.

then the kid bitched it was not stopping, the peddle moved too much etc...LOL
when it "allegedly" had exactly what he had before &
it locked the brakes up when the owner of Phantom works drove it...

Dumba$$ kid was completely clueless & he was really pissed too,
entitlement type of typical youth BS, tantrums because he didn't get his way...

That was kind of funny

Yup,
Budnicks is correct, I have made an error on my above comment.
"Silver moments?"

Budnicks has refreshed my memory of this episode.

The kid complained about the brakes, the owner stated the "brake" set-up was un-safe for the street.
The Kid liked his brakes to grab way down on the pedal travel...LOL
Yes, the kid was unruly, belligerent and a bit obtuse.

Thanks Budnicks.

I thought I saw a 71 Plymouth Satellite/Roadrunner/GTX sitting in the bone yard. any plans on doing one of those any time soon? I'm kind of partial.

honestly he wants to brag how good he is, fine with me, plus one of the challengers he did. did go for over a hundred K. he's gotta be doing something right. i just like the fact he is rebuilding these mopars an some have cool stories behind them. the show has made way better improvements over the first couple seasons. i think the mopars are awesome. hemi*guy 426 hemi charger is just spectacular. keep on building them i keep on watching. jmo
