I think the A/C heater fan motor is dying on our car. Does it come out from the firewall or do you have to remove the whole unit from the inside in order to get it out.

Thanks.

As I recall, it comes out from firewall. Studs are on the box I think.

Download a service manual from "My Mopar" website. You'll find it useful in the future.

In an attempt to help you all I can say is in my 69 RR you can take it out and replace it / fix it. I was able to get mine out clean and repaint it and fix the squirrel cage. Hope these pictures help. If it looks like this on your firewall?

Got to take a clamp (much like a PS hose clamp) off the fan from the inside & yank the motor out from the engine compartment. Hopefully, it comes off the shaft easily, but it probably won't because you have to clear the rusty shaft tip as the picture above shows.

I don't have a Dodge (71 Plymouth), but the one I took out of my parts car didn't look like the other post pics

. It seems to me, that I was able to get the fan and motor out as assembly. I didn't take it apart.

Thanks, that looks more like mine. Hopefully it will come out in one piece with no trouble.

Yeah, take the three nuts off, unplug the other wire and finesse it out. Now that I dug deep to find this fan, I think I will clean it up and replace the one that's in there. It squeaks some.
