what is everybody using for motor mounts in a 65 coronet with 440?

Original or reproduction big-block mounts and 2227/8 rubber insulators ( I have a few sets of new insulators)

The torque strap is a nice cheap insurance policy for your motor mounts. Also made by Shumacher. I think they're only about $75.

Ive always run solid driver side / rubber passenger side. However, all this talk recently about mounts has me rethinking it for my 451 that I'll be dropping in next week.

I'm now thinking rubber mounts and a shumacher strap are the bees knees.

Just took the old girl out with the new 451 and rubber mounts (no torque strap yet). Man what a difference! Though the vibrations of the solid mount never bothered me, boy is the difference noticeable. And boy does the engine rock and roll more... almost seems unsafe!

Better hurry up and get it! Don't want that motor getting loose and try turning sideways in your engine bay!

Yeah I hear ya. After a few weeks of Brett Favre'ing, I'll be ordering one on Monday.

What'd ya do there? The shumacher strap comes off their angled bracket off the motor boss. Can't quite see, did you eliminate the angle bracket and drill a new hole in the lower bracket?

Well I was going to make my own until surfing fleabay one day, I see one for a E body, about half the cost of what they go for.

The early ones didn't have that bracket at the top and it was mounted straight on. I believe too many people with power steering were complaining about clearance issues so they added the angle and the bracket. I thought the early one looked better but it's no longer available.

If you notice, the K frame bracket changes between applications. The one I have has the standoff closer to the rear for E bodys. B bodys are normally toward the front. Different year K frames and engine mounts were more foward or rearward. So that determines how that bracket is made.

This one worked out fine for my '62. I bought a longer g8 bolt for the motor mount and made a bushing/spacer to keep things straight. I also used an extra jam nut on the adjustment sleeve.

Beware ! on the newer ones, the instructions appear to be the wrong ones . Guess they try to cover several applications with the same instructions. Read thru and look at all the pics clear to the end of them. For my 64 Dodge, they were on the last page, and then we had to dieviate from them a little bit. I have power steering...............................MO

I found two sets of nos ones. Hoping they are better than the newer ones. If you're going to give them hell every once in awhile, get a torque strap.

Agree, they are trying to cover several models even with the torque straps. Like I stated, I would have made my own but I found the one I have for half price. You can buy and make those parts if you have the talent.

Inspiration! Here's what I whipped up for 15 bucks. Grade 8 rod and a female rod end. Hardware and bushings I had laying around. You can see the difference immediately just as it idles.
