So I ordered my MP-40 from an outfit called "Mr. Gun Dealer" in Michigan. I called them up to make the payment, and I told them "DO NOT WRITE MR. GUN DEALER, OR MENTION GUN, ANYWHERE ON THE BOX!" The guy I talked to said they ship all the time without a problem, that their name is printed on the boxes, and there wouldn't be a problem. I told him the last firearm I had sent via UPS through their Jacksonville depot that said "gun" on it went missing for three days and didn't miraculously reappear until I threatened to bring the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) and BATFE in on the deal. He kept saying there wouldn't be a problem.
So, no surprise, the gun makes it all the way from Michigan to Jacksonville and then poof! I get the "A status cannot be provided. Please check back later" bullshit. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, and the status kept showing a delay due to hurricane Irma preventing deliveries to specific zip codes. Problem is the zip code where my dealer is at is not in one of those zip codes. Thieves might be low lifes, but they aren't stupid, and what better time to steal packages than when there is lots of chaos with deliveries.
So I called JSO and filed a formal complaint against the UPS Jacksonville depot. The detective I talked to said mine was definitely not the first complaint they've gotten about this stuff happening, but they usually can't make a case because UPS settles things. I told him to go ahead and get a criminal complaint going and today I'll be talking to my pal at the States Attorney office who helped me send my least-favorite mechanic to prison and get him onboard.
