Did any 1968 Roadrunner ever come from the factory with blacked out grill or any black paint behind the grill ? Thanks

Not to my knowledge
it's an Argent colored, not black,
sort of a textured dark-ish/silver-ish color
with a polished exterior & headlight bezels,
with argent between them too

I believe the rad support on the grille side is painted black.
Yeah it was really a hit & miss with that black out stuff
shot from the bottom, my 68 RR has very little from the factory...
Most were like that too, I've had quite a few 68's
Mostly all down low, or on the sides down low, like spatter paint
maybe my current 68 RR was a Monday or Friday car

Low gloss black #30 IIRC

Good info guys. I want to paint mine and I would like it to be somewhat close to factory. Anyone have pictures I could see? Thanks

For the paint go here...

They have the best match I have found for factory original.

I have a 68 RR grille I picked up a while back. It seems to be original, though I cannot vouch 100% if it is.

I bought a dozen cans of their various "weird paints". The first 2 cans I tried spraying....did nothing at all. Clogged, from the get-go. I won't be buying that crap again.

huh, no ****. I've purchased a bunch of the "weird paints" from them over the years and never had a problem.

Thanks for the pictures but I'm not sure just what area I'm seeing.
Sorry but here is it again but back further as i must have posted the same pic 2x.
It is the drivers side right behind the headlight bucket and grille area.
I sold the car but this is some of the pics i had.

Ok, now I see it. So this is how it was painted from the factory, kind of a semi-gloss black ? Thank you very much
