I'm 19 and have been working on the car with my dad for years. He passed away about a month ago and i'm trying to get his car running better. I know the carb and timing both need adjusting. It runs and drives right now but is hard to start and bogs when it's floored. I will add more later but just wanted to get a thread going.

Very sorry to hear about your Dad. Your not to far from me. Guys here will be happy to help you. How about a picture or two.

Sorry to hear about you dad I'll be praying for you and your family. Cool car to remember him by though.

Welcome, sorry to hear about your pops. You came to the right place for help!

Good luck with your Charger. Very sorry to hear about your father.

Sorry about your dad, sounds like he knew what he was doing,at least with not going to a humongous carb right off the bat. Lotsa help on this forum, ask away.

You're a blessed young man having had that time and experience working on that car with your dad, and I am sorry for your loss.
Lots of experienced members here. They have helped me many times.

My dad was a slave driver, all he cared about was the farm and cattle/putting up hay, building fence etc. Always something to do. Back to the charger, sounds like a bigger double pumper would be in order to me ! I used to switch back and forth between an 870 vac secondary , and an 800 double pumper on one of my hotrods, the double pumper will be faster, but the vac sec. got the best mileage.

Mileage shouldn't factor in IMO.
I will defer tuning suggestions to other forum members in this case.
Good luck!

So sorry to hear of your fathers passing, but it’s really cool that his car has been moved along to you. This is a great site for positive friendly advice. You’ll find no shortage of help here. Initially, I would agree with others that an 11:1 roller-cam engine with a single plane and 5.13 gears should benefit from more carburetor than a 780 vacuum carb. Significantly more.

I too echo the sentiments of everyone on this thread regarding the loss of your father. It does sound like you have a great start with the car. I do think 5.13's is a bit stout for your engine combination. With all the info available here from all the Pentastar Mopar people, it's only a matter of time and you'll figure it out.

Hey bud lets see some pics of your dads car ! Gotta love those 69 Charger's !!

Sorry to hear about you Dad. Prayers for you and your family.

I'm sure the excitement wore off and the kid sold the car to get a late model.:poke:

We can all hope the car wasn't sold however the emotions and sadness over the loss of his Dad might have played a huge part in the sale. I can respect that...
