So, after some surfing on the web, it appears Roadrunners in '68, there were more Sedans than Hardtops? and in '69, it was opposite? So are Sedans worth more than Hardtops? or vice versa?
thanks

I don't know about the value, but to me, the pop-out windows on the coupe add to the coolness factor.

Would not have guessed that on '68's, but the pillar on the sedans wasn't very obvious, so I may have missed that on the ones around here. The value is always in the eye of the beholder.

Unless you have a/c in Texas, the hard top is the only way to get maximum airflow....not to mention the good looks of an open cabin with all the glass down.

The first run of roadrunners were coupe only. Not real sure but I think hardtops were produced after the 1st of the year. They were supposed to be the working mans hot rod and made affordable as possible but there were many requests for the hardtops so Plymouth did it. Seems like I recall reading that but maybe it was just all a dream....?

My dim recollection is that the '68 hardtops came later, with earlier cars being the sedan/coupe. My understanding is that all '69's were hardtops.

Correct on the first part. Incorrect on the second.

I agree. I seem to recall hardtops not being available at first, thus the poorer showing in '68. Both where available during all of '69, so I think the '69 numbers are more accurate.

I like the hardtop, having all the glass rolled down.. but then I'm a little biased LOL. The kids like it when they ride back there, that way they can wave at the fords when we roar past..You guys are correct that they offered the hardtop after mid year in 68, this was the same time they added the decor package option (chrome grille with the brushed aluminum tail panel). I was always told, all other things being equal, the coups would quarter mile a little quicker because they were stiffer... But maybe that's just an old uncle's tale..

Sedans etc are generally a little stiffer and a tad lighter since there isn't a window mechanism for the back windows. The window mechanisms don't weigh that much but every ounce counts :D but being a bit stiffer and a few pounds lighter, maybe that combination together did something for it. Myself, I really like sedans.....er coupes.

Sedans are 4 doors. Coupes are post, Hardtops are postless. The coupes are most definitely stiffer with less torsional twist. The coupes are my preferred choice.
Post Toasties!

...and then there's the 2 door post coupe like 67-69 Valiants and some Darts.

further clouding the waters-

"21" body cars can have posts around the door windows on not have them.

62-65 2 door B body has them, 66-70 does not, but has a post and the aforementioned flip window. 67-69 A body has them.

Late "21" B body cars (71-74) simply do not have the roller mechanism, but have no post, just like a "23" body hardtop car.

Then there's the "29" body cars. may or may not have a post or a moving rear window.

It's funny how the manufacturers named the cars sedan or coupe or even sports coupe. IIRC, my mom's 56 Plymouth Belvedere was called a 2dr sports couple and it had no posts.

What about 70's? I have a 70' coupe (post) Road Runner. Were there more coupes or hard tops in 70?

I ordered my 68 hardtop roadrunner on 1/6/68. They became available after the 1st of Jan.68. It was 4 speed, sure grip, P/S and clock. It wasn't that much more for the H/T, but it included better interior and trim piece on the trunk. I think I got my car in about three weeks which surprised us all even the dealer.
