The idea is to build a cruiser/daily driver with a '67 Belvedere II sedan as the base. 318 with an OEM 340 cam, '79-'85 E46 318 4v intake and Thermoquad, '88-'91 #302 heads, '74-'80 E58 360 manifolds?, dual-exhaust with '66-'78 Cadillac resonators and an X-pipe, '72-'89 Mopar ignition, later Mopar starter and alternator, 26" radiator and viscous-drive fan, and R134a conversion. A904TF with '77+ torque converter and TransGo shift kit, eventually an A500 auto with OD. 2.94 or 3.23 ratio and SureGrip. Retrofit '78-'81 B/R-Body rotors, '78-'89 M Body spindles and brake system. 15x7 steel wheels, original DX hubcaps. BFG Radial T/A 215/75R-15 tires. Firm Feel or Borgeson PS. Turquoise or Blue paint and Black vinyl and cloth interior. Something like the blue one is my goal, and the white one (or similar) the starting point.

:D Thank you. I plan to make it a reality. I have yet to find a good base to start with though I'm just beginning my search.
 
You might look for a 5th Ave parts car.

You'll get a nearly complete disk brake system, your 15x7 steelies, a roller cam 318 with your 302 heads, a six way seat track, a power remote trunk release, and with some mods, perhaps power windows and a puffy possibly Corinthian leather interior.

...and a whole bunch of genuine Mopar nuts, bolts, bulbs and fasteners.

...and a 8 1/4 axle that you could use if yours is 7 1/4 or sell to an A body guy.

Thank you. I've seen complete decent running examples for as low as $700. I could probably get one from a salvage yard for a good bit less. What cam would you suggest in place of the OEM 340? Or would the stock roller cam be good enough? I'm tempted by the '88-'91 318 TBI.

roller cams are a bit more pricey that a traditional flat tappet, but they won't have break in issues and they are more efficient.

Both Comp and Lunati offer SBM roller cams with "snouts" to drive the mechanical fuel pump on an LA 318.

I'd look at the smallest ones they have. IIRC the stock 318 roller profile is very close to the flat tappet 318 profile of about .400 lift.

O.K. Thank you. I found a few good ones in Jegs. According to Allpar (https://www.allpar.com/mopar/318.html), the 318 had 3 different cams prior to the roller cam. '67 was 390/390 and 244/244, '68-'88 was 373/400 and 240/248, the 4-bbl was 430/444 and 268/276. The roller cam was 391/391 and 240/240.

89 360 still had the mechanical pump esentic. Yes it was a surprise.

Thanks, guys. I'm still looking, and I haven't given up. I asked around about a loan. I was told that since I don't have collateral and don't have a co-signer, I would need to be employed at my job for at least 6 months before they would consider any loan to me. I expected that. It gives me more time to look and find. The dream is still the same, edited to include suggestions.
