Vinyl top installation yes or no? Pros and cons?

Not to sound stupid but is there a difference in the trim for vinyl topped cars vs a painted top?
As far as oe grade clips maybe @moparnation74 can chime in, his parts were as close to day 1 stuff Ive ever seen...
Mike

You are correct. The trim above the side glass is different for a vinyl top versus a painted roof car. If you have the wrong trim for the vinyl top it will be tight going on. So you have to be careful not to roll or tear the top when installing. It will work but is a pain.....the latter if you have the vinyl trim for a painted top car it will be loose. I wish I measured the difference of the trim on my charger and on the GTX. Both cars had the majority of trim reused....

Thanks Justin,
Do you have a resource for quality trim clips?

Mike are your referring to the rear window trim?

If so.....Maybe I could get a vendor to chime in on this thread....

There has been a lot of discussion , in several different threads, about front and rear window trim clips especially the rear. I'm not good at finding them in a search, so I recommend you give it a try.......................MO

I have about 5 spots where clearly something is happening under my vinyl top. I dread removing it...
I had them in the past on Chevys and they were more trouble than they were worth. I much prefer the looks of the vinyl top, but will paint mine when i finally decided to deal with it. Mine is a driver, with a pretty bad paint job. Pretty sure the previous owner dropped it off at MAACO. Looks good at 40'!!
